This paper explores the development and testing of two Internet of Things (IoT) applications designed to leverage Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communication for managing intelligent intersections. The first scenario focuses on enabling the rapid and safe passage of emergency vehicles through intersections by notifying approaching drivers via a mobile application. The second scenario enhances pedestrian safety by alerting drivers, through the same application, about the presence of pedestrians detected at crosswalks by a traffic sensor equipped with neural network capabilities.

The Campi Flegrei caldera experienced an unrest phase dating to 2005, which primary expression is the impressive ground uplift, accompanied by increasing degassing and seismic activities. Such last two phenomena developed mainly in the caldera central sector, including the Solfatara-Pisciarelli complex. However, the inner structure of such an area is still not defined, and this originates a poor understanding of the ongoing unrest.

Quantum computing is rapidly establishing itself as a new computing paradigm capable of obtaining advantages over its classical counterpart. However, a major limitation in the design of a quantum algorithm is related to the proper mapping of the corresponding circuit to a specific quantum processor so that the underlying physical constraints are satisfied. Moreover, current deterministic mapping algorithms suffer from high run times as the number of qubits to map increases.

Pisciarelli, together with the adjacent Solfatara maar-diatreme, represents the most active structure of the Campi Flegrei caldera (Italy) in terms of degassing and seismic activity. This paper aims to define the structure of the Pisciarelli hydrothermal system (down to a 20 m depth) through electrical resistivity and time-domain-induced polarization tomography and self-potential mapping. The retrieved 3D image of the area helps reconstruct the Pisciarelli subsurface in its area of maximum degassing, containing the main fumarole ("soffione") and the mud pool.

Patients with chronic kidney disease or end-stage renal disease experience tremendous cardiovascular risk. Cardiovascular events are the leading causes of death in these patient populations, thus the interest in non-traditional risk factors such as hyperhomocysteinemia, folic acid and vitamin B12 metabolism is growing. Hyperhomocysteinemia is commonly found in CKD patients because of impaired renal metabolism and reduced renal excretion.

Cultured mouse embryonic stem cells are a heterogeneous population with diverse differentiation potential. In particular, the subpopulation marked by Zscan4 expression has high stem cell potency and shares with 2 cell stage preimplantation embryos both genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that orchestrate zygotic genome activation. Although embryonic de novo genome activation is known to rely on metabolites, a more extensive metabolic characterization is missing.

The central sector of the Campi Flegrei volcano, including the Solfatara maar and Pisciarelli fumarole field, is currently the most active area of the caldera as regards seismicity and gaseous emissions and it plays a significant role in the ongoing unrest. However, a general volcano-tectonic reconstruction of the entire sector is still missing. This work aims to depict, for the first time, the architecture of the area through the application of deep Electrical Resistivity Tomography.

The prototype cold-shock Y-box binding protein 1 (YB-1) is a multifunctional protein that regulates a variety of fundamental biological processes including cell proliferation and migration, DNA damage, matrix protein synthesis and chemotaxis. The plethora of functions assigned to YB-1 is strictly dependent on its subcellular localization. In resting cells, YB-1 localizes to cytoplasm where it is a component of messenger ribonucleoprotein particles.

Y-box binding protein 1 (YBX-1 or YB-1) is an oncoprotein that promotes replicative immortality, tumor cell invasion and metastasis. The increase in the abundance of YB-1 in the cell or YB-1 translocation from the cytoplasm to the nucleus is characteristic of malignant cell growth. We have previously reported that ΔNp63α, a transcription factor that is known to play a pivotal role in keratinocyte proliferation and differentiation, promotes YB-1 nuclear accumulation.

Depending on their genetic background (p53(wt) versus p53(null)), carcinoma cells are more or less sensitive to drug-induced cell cycle arrest and/or apoptosis. Among the members of the p53 family, p63 is characterized by two N-terminal isoforms, TAp63 and ΔNp63. TAp63 isoform has p53-like functions, while ΔNp63 acts as a dominant negative inhibitor of p53.

Cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) typically lack somatic oncogene-activating mutations and most of them contain p53 mutations. However, the presence of p53 mutations in skin premalignant lesions suggests that these represent early events during tumor progression and additional alterations may be required for SCC development. SCC cells frequently express high levels of ΔNp63α and Y-box binding 1 (YB-1 or YBX1) oncoproteins.

Germination of Bacillus subtilis spores is normally initiated when nutrients from the environment interact with germinant receptors (GRs) in the spores' inner membrane (IM), in which most of the lipids are immobile. GRs and another germination protein, GerD, colocalize in the IM of dormant spores in a small focus termed the "germinosome," and this colocalization or focus formation is dependent upon GerD, which is also essential for rapid GR-dependent spore germination. To determine the fate of the germinosome and germination proteins during spore germination and outgrowth, we employed differential interference microscopy and epifluorescence microscopy to track germinating spores with fluorescent fusions to germination proteins and used Western blot analyses to measure germination protein levels.
