Daratumumab for antibody-mediated rejection: Is it time to target the real culprit?

We report the case of a sensitized woman who underwent successful transplantation after a desensitization protocol, with an optically normal 8-day biopsy. At 3 months, she developed active antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) due to preformed donor-specific antibodies. It was decided to treat the patient with daratumumab, an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody.

Use of anti-CMV immunoglobulins in lung transplant recipients: The French experience.

Rational: Pending the authorization of new anti-CMV drugs with fewer adverse effects, exploring the possibilities offered by CMV immunoglobulins (CMVIG) seems necessary. In France, access to CMVIG requires official authorization by the national Health authority and is restricted to second line rescue therapy for CMV infection/disease. Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder is a growing complication of kidney transplantation and is associated with a poor prognosis. Anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy is an important new treatment option modifying the outcome of refractory hematological cancers. Here, we report the case of a 40-year-old kidney transplant recipient who developed a Burkitt-like lymphoma with 11q aberration 5 years after transplantation.

Toll/interleukin-1 receptor (TIR) domains in Toll-like receptors are essential for initiating and propagating the eukaryotic innate immune signaling cascade. Here, we investigate TirS, a Staphylococcus aureus TIR mimic that is part of a novel bacterial invasion mechanism. Its ectopic expression in eukaryotic cells inhibited TLR signaling, downregulating the NF-kB pathway through inhibition of TLR2, TLR4, TLR5, and TLR9.

No Evidence That Nitrogen Limitation Influences the Elemental Composition of Isopod Transcriptomes and Proteomes.

The field of stoichiogenomics aims at understanding the influence of nutrient limitations on the elemental composition of the genome, transcriptome, and proteome. The 20 amino acids and the 4 nt differ in the number of nutrients they contain, such as nitrogen (N). Thus, N limitation shall theoretically select for changes in the composition of proteins or RNAs through preferential use of N-poor amino acids or nucleotides, which will decrease the N-budget of an organism.
