Here we present antiestrogenic effects of Knotolan, a new dietary lignan from Abies sibirica raw material. Knotolan abolished growth-stimulating effects of 17β-estradiol on hormone-dependent MCF-7 cells.

Protective efficacy of secreted proteins of Streptococcus pneumoniae and Klebsiella pneumoniae cultivated on cardiocerebral broth and semisynthetic growth medium respectively was studied in vivo. Fraction with molecular weight 30 - 50 kDa obtained by the method of membrane fractionation had high protective efficacy. Two-dose immunization of mice with this fraction provided 80 - 100% protection from infection by homologous strains of S.

The dynamics of morphological changes occurring in the bronchial stump depending on the extent of mediastinal lymph dissection, preoperative chemotherapy and the stump cover method are discussed. Stump healing after right-side pneumonectomy was assessed in 32 non-inbred dogs. Typical procedure was tested in group 1 while complete systematic mediastinal lymph dissection (CSMLD)--in groups 2-4.

The study was aimed at the evaluation of the antigenic properties of K. pneumoniae secreted protein-containing antigens with a molecular weightt of 21 and 34-35 kD, obtained from supernatant culture fluid. As confirmed by the method of flow cytofluorimetry, the protein-containing fractions belonged to the secreted components of the microbial cell.

The problem in question is actual because of great incidence of postoperative complications and considerable problems with treatment of them. The authors made an analysis of surgical treatment of 506 patients with primary cancer and carcinoid tumors of the lung. The authors have developed a system of individual prognosis of risk of the development of bronchopleural fistulas (BPF), introduced an original technique of bronchomyoplasty with the help of m.

The study was carried out to evaluate the substrate specificity and activity of proteases secreted by strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae with various degree of virulence. The process included cultivation of the strains in semi-synthetic medium, after which the biomass was inactivated and the supernatant was separated from bacterial cells through centrifugation. Elastase-, trypsin-, and chymotrypsin-like proteolytic activity was measured in the supernatant and in all fractions obtained through gel-filtration, followed by DEAE-sepharose purification.
