The treatment of glial brain tumors is an unresolved problem in neurooncology, and all existing methods (tumor resection, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, radiosurgery, fluorescence diagnostics, photodynamic therapy, etc.) are directed toward increasing progression-free survival for patients. Fluorescence diagnostics and photodynamic therapy are promising methods for achieving gross total resection and additional treatment of residual parts of the tumor.

Fluorescence diagnostics is one of the promising methods for intraoperative detection of brain tumor boundaries and helps in maximizing the extent of resection. This paper presents the results of a pilot study on the first use of the chlorin e6 photosensitizer and a two-channel video system for fluorescence-guided resection of pituitary adenomas. The study's clinical part involved two patients diagnosed with hormonally inactive pituitary macroadenomas and one patient with a hormonally active one.

Unlabelled: Epilepsy surgery is effective in 30-82% of patients with drug-resistant epilepsy. However, risk factors of unfavorable outcomes after epilepsy surgery require further study.

Objective: To evaluate risk factors of favorable and unfavorable long-term postoperative outcomes in patients with drug-resistant epilepsy.

Objective: To investigate the informativeness of long-term scalp EEG monitoring in patients with acute traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Material And Methods: The informativity of long-term EEG monitoring (LTM) was performed in 60 patients with acute severe TBI. Odd ratios (OR) of unfavorable outcome and non-convulsive status epilepticus (NCSE) among clinical, neurophysiological and radiological features were calculated.

High-grade gliomas have a diffuse and infiltrative nature of the growth of tumor cells, due to which the achievement of radical resection is difficult. Surgical resection completeness of brain tumors is an important factor in prolonging the life of patients. An accurate definition of tumor boundaries and residual fluorescent regions is impossible due to imperfections of the equipment used for fluorescent imaging.

Objective: To determine the incidence of non-convulsive status epilepticus, epileptiform activity, rhythmic and periodic patterns in patients with acute stroke.

Material And Method: An analysis of electroencephalography (EEG) in 86 stroke patients in the neurointensive care unit of the tertiary medical center was performed. Criteria for starting EEG recording were epileptic seizures or clinical suspicion of uncontrolled epileptic status.

This review focuses on the role of mental and cognitive disorders in the prognosis for surgical treatment of pharmacoresistant epilepsy. The authors analyze historical aspects of the surgical treatment of epilepsy and present current data on the prognosis of operative intervention with respect to seizure control, cognitive functioning, and psychiatric disorders. The psychiatrist's role in the structure of preoperative and postoperative management of patients is considered.

This article presents a clinical case of a 29-year-old patient with 'Double cortex syndrome' with epilepsy, intellectual and mental disorders. Subcortical band heterotopia is a rare disorder of neuronal migration. Such patients typically present with epilepsy and variable degrees of mental retardation and behavioral and intellectual disturbances.

Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich Syndrome results in a doubling of the internal genitalia accompanied by unilateral gynatresia (with hemi-hematokolpos, hemi-hematometra and/or hemi-hematosalpings) and ipsilateral renal agenesis. The authors considered the case of a successful full-term pregnancy in one uterus after pregnancy failure in the other imposed surgical removal of the same.

Ovarian vein thrombosis (OVT) is a rare, but serious condition that affects mostly postpartum women but may also be associated with pelvic inflammatory disease, malignancies and pelvic surgical procedures. Concerning ovarian vein thrombosis in earlier stages of pregnancy there are only very few case reports. The authors consider this rare but potentially deadly disease and describe the clinical case study.

Each year about 500,000 mothers die worldwide as 24 to 60% of deaths due to postpartum haemorrhage. The author presents a balloon-tamponade of the uterus as an effective weapon in the fight against postnatal bleeding. Requests are publications on the subject in different journals cited in Medline, Cochrane library, Nature, Science, Lancet, GyneWeb and others.

Placenta accreta and its variants increta and percreta is one of the biggest challenges in clinical obstetric practice. The frequency of this life-threatening abnormality in the placenta tends to increase, this trend is directly linked to increasing rates of Caesarean section. The author describes clinical case of unrecognized before birth Placenta percreta, risk factors for this condition and modern methods for timely diagnosis and behavior.

Aim: To study the rate of infection of ticks captured one of the Moscow park terrains with bacteria (agents of tick borreliosis and anaplasmosis).

Materials And Methods: Rates of infection of dried ticks with agents of main tick-borne bacterial infections (tick borreliosis and anaplasmosis) were determined by nested PCR.

Results: In May-June 2006, 76 ticks (40 adult females, 36 adult, males) belonged to Ixodes ricinus species were captured by the method "on flag".

Unlabelled: Inhospital treatment of patients with heart failure (HF) can cause changes of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT proBNP) levels. It has not been established yet which NT proBNP value (before or at height of treatment activation) is closer related to prognosis of unfavorable outcome after discharge.

Aim: To compare relation to risk of post discharge unfavorable outcome of patients with HF of NT proBNP levels measured close to hospital admission and discharge.
