Provoked, localized, vulvodynia (PVD) is the main subtype of vulvodynia. Although the etiology of PVD is still a topic of debate, inflammation caused by cytokines responding to a dysregulated microbiome is one of the leading proposed theories. Therefore, the purpose of our study is to further explore the cytokine profiles in the study group with PVD using multiplex immunoassays based on electrochemiluminescence.

BACKGROUND Pneumatosis intestinalis (PI) is an uncommon condition that is not specific to any particular disease. Currently, there is no specific clinical guideline for treating and diagnosing PI. Furthermore, there are numerous causes of PI, which makes it difficult for clinicians - internal medicine physicians as well as surgeons - to take a clinical approach to diagnosis and treatment.

Activity theory as a framework for teaching mathematics: An experimental study.

This article introduces activity theory and how it can be employed to instruct the topic of straight-line equations in a plane - Geometry 10. Using the activity theory approach, we studied and developed a teaching process. The procedure is divided into three stages: Phase 1: Motivation and goal orientation, in which teachers present situations to attract students to the lesson; Phase 2: Knowledge formation, in which students engage in a variety of learning activities to build the knowledge they need to learn; Phase 3: Practice and consolidation, in which many exercises are assigned to students to solve in order to consolidate their knowledge and assist teachers in detecting and correcting students' misconceptions.

Background: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes regions of ulceration within the interior of the colon. UC is estimated to afflict hundreds of thousands of people in the United States alone. Molecular Characterization of β-Thalassemia Mutations in Central Vietnam.

The molecular basis of β-thalassemia (β-thal) mutations in North and in South Vietnam have been described during the past 15 years, whereas limited data were available concerning the central area of the country. In this study, we describe the molecular characterization and frequency of β-globin gene mutations in the Thua Thien Hue Province of Central Vietnam as the result of a first survey conducted in 22 transfusion-dependent patients, and four unrelated heterozygotes. Nine different known mutations were identified (seven of the β and two of the β type) in a total of 48 chromosomes.
