Background: Promoting the uptake of vaccination for infectious diseases such as COVID-19 remains a global challenge, necessitating collaborative efforts between public health units (PHUs) and communities. Applied behavioural science can play a crucial role in supporting PHUs' response by providing insights into human behaviour and informing tailored strategies to enhance vaccination uptake. Community engagement can help broaden the reach of behavioural science research by involving a more diverse range of populations and ensuring that strategies better represent the needs of specific communities.

The objective of this study was to determine whether case finding increased after implementation of enhanced notification and follow-up activities for contacts of cases of Neisseria gonorrhoeae in Central Zone, the largest health authority in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Methods: Enhanced contact tracing by public health professionals was implemented in May 2015.
Intervention: Physical inactivity is an important behavioral risk factor for chronic disease in Canada. Individual-level strategies are used in clinical medicine to target individuals for preventive intervention based on one or more risk factors. In contrast, this study examines the impact of a population-level intervention: a municipal policy outside the healthcare sector that influences the built and social environment.

Simulation modeling-the use of mathematical models to predict health outcomes in populations given a set of specified inputs-is a useful, yet underutilized tool for PHIR.
