Supracondylar humerus fractures (SCHF) in children are common and can lead to serious complications, including neurovascular injury. The optimal management of children with a 'pink pulseless' hand following such a fracture is unclear. This study aimed to ascertain an appropriate therapeutic approach for children with SCHF and a pink pulseless hand.

For undoped SnO, room temperature ferromagnetism could be seen uniquely in 2-dimensional configurations, particularly in ultra-thin films (whose thickness is ideally below 100 nm). Both bulk samples and nano-powders of pristine SnO are diamagnetic, indicating that a 2D surface is a key point in shaping up the magnetic properties in SnO. As a complement to our experiments, we have performed a series of quantum-mechanical calculations for the bulk rutile-structure SnO as well as its (001) and (101) surfaces.

Article Synopsis
  • Vietnam has a significant thalassemia issue, with a study of 5,880 pregnant women revealing a 13.13% carrier frequency for thalassemia.
  • The breakdown of carriers included 7.82% for α-thalassemia and 5.31% for β-thalassemia, with common mutations identified in both types.
  • The study highlights the effectiveness of combining next-generation sequencing with gap-PCR for comprehensive thalassemia screening, estimating that around 5,021 babies could be born with severe thalassemia in Vietnam each year.

Background: An endotracheal tube cuff pressure between 20 and 30 cmH2O is recommended to prevent ventilator-associated respiratory infection (VARI). We aimed to evaluate whether continuous cuff pressure control (CPC) was associated with reduced VARI incidence compared with intermittent CPC.

Methods: We conducted a multicenter open-label randomized controlled trial in intensive care unit (ICU) patients within 24 hours of intubation in Vietnam.
