Deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) prevent ubiquitination by eliminating ubiquitin from their substrates. Deubiquitinating enzymes have important roles in a number of cell biology subfields that are highly relevant to diseases like neurodegeneration, cancer, autoimmune disorders, and long-term inflammation. Deubiquitinating enzymes feature a well-defined active site and, for the most part, catalytic cysteine, which makes them appealing targets for small-molecule drug development.

The inhibitory effect against 5-α reductase of the ethyl acetate (EA) extract from Physalis angulata was evaluated in vitro using mouse prostate homogenates, and the suppression of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) was assessed in a mouse model of testosterone-induced BPH. The EA extract exhibited a potentially inhibitory effect on 5-α reductase with an IC of 197 μg/ml. In BPH mice, the EA extract at a dose of 12 mg/kg was comparable to finasteride 5 mg/kg in suppressing BPH in terms of reducing absolute enlarged prostate weight (p < 0.

Methicillin-resistant (MRSA) is a critical pathogen responsible for a wide variety of serious infectious diseases in humans. The accelerated phenomena of drug tolerance, drug resistance, and dysbacteriosis provoked by antibiotic misuse are impeding the effectiveness of contemporary antibiotic therapies primarily used to treat this common worldwide pathogen. In this study, the antibacterial activity of 70% ethanol extract and multiple polar solvents of were measured against the clinical MRSA isolate.

Purpose: Hepatic angiosarcoma is very rare malignancy and more common in men than in women. To date, only a few female cases of liver angiosarcoma have been reported. Here, we report a female case of liver angiosarcoma, first detected in Vietnam, with a high malignancy stage, rapid progression, and poor prognosis.

Introduction: The goal of this study was to compare the results of LPD with those of open pancreaticoduodenectomy (OPD).

Method: Data were retrospectively collected from a database of patients who underwent PD from January 2010 to May 2020. Intraoperative, postoperative, and follow-up assessment studies were conducted.

Background: Clinical pharmacists have an important role in inter-professional healthcare collaboration for epilepsy management. However, the pharmacy practices of managing epilepsy are still limited in Vietnam, deterring pharmacists from routine adjustments of antiepileptic drugs, which could decrease the patients' quality of life. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of pharmacist interventions in epilepsy treatment at a Vietnamese general hospital.

Purpose: Undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma of the liver (UESL) is a rare malignant lesion in adults. Here, we present an extremely rare case of UESL in a pregnant woman. However, this was the first case, wherein one surgery covered all the procedures needed to be performed, including delivery of the neonate, hysterectomy, and resection of the left liver lobe to ensure the safety of both the mother and the newborn.

Background: Laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (LPD) is a less invasive alternative to the traditional open pancreaticoduodenectomy (OPD) approach used to treat periampullary tumors. However, previous studies examining the advantages of this surgery over OPD have produced mixed results. Here, a retrospective observational approach was used to compare the short- and long-term outcomes of patients with periampullary tumors who underwent LPD or OPD at a single institution in Vietnam.

Introduction And Importance: A very rare case with presence of both esophageal and gastric cancers raised questions on how to perform optimal surgery for such cases. To date, reports on experimental surgery strategies for these rare cases remained sparse in the literatures.

Case Presentation: A 61-year-old male patient having epigastric abdominal pain and swallowing difficulties for a month prior to the hospital.

Folk experiences suggest natural products in can be effective inhibitors towards diabetes-related enzymes. The compounds were experimentally isolated, structurally elucidated, and tested in vitro for their inhibition effects on tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) and α-glucosidase (3W37). Density functional theory and molecular docking techniques were utilized as computational methods to predict the stability of the ligands and simulate interaction between the studied inhibitory agents and the targeted proteins.

is regarded as one of the most important medicinal plants in the traditional medicine system of Vietnam. However, scientific evidence for the antioxidant effects against lipid peroxidation and the potential effects in cancer of this plant are lacking. In our experiments, 70% ethanolic extracts of leaves (LPP) and stem bark (SPP) were evaluated for their low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation and cytotoxic activity against cancer cell lines.

Introduction: Doppler-guided transanal hemorrhoidal dearterialization (THD) was considered a less invasive and innovative method to treat hemorrhoidal disease, but it may impact the anal area during dearterialization and mucopexy. Thus, this study aimed to assess any changes in anorectal manometry of grade III and IV hemorrhoidal patients following THD treatment.

Methods: This prospective observational study was conducted with patients who had grades III and IV hemorrhoidal disease.
