Whole-cell bioreactors equipped with external physico-chemical sensors have gained attention for real-time toxicity monitoring. However, deploying these systems in practice is challenging due to potential interference from unknown wastewater constituents with liquid-contacted sensors. In this study, a novel approach using a bioreactor integrated with a non-dispersive infrared CO₂ sensor for both toxicity detection and real-time monitoring of microbial growth phases was successfully demonstrated.

In this report, red-emitting alumina nanophosphors doped with Mn and Mg (AlO:Mn, Mg) are synthesized by a hydrothermal method using a Pluronic surfactant. The prepared samples are ceramic-sintered at various temperatures. X-ray diffraction shows that AlO:Mn, Mg annealed at 500 °C exhibits a cubic γ-AlO phase with the space group 3-227.

In this paper, a composite from polyaniline and graphene oxide-hydrotalcite hybrid (PAN-HG) was fabricated by direct polymerization of aniline using ammonium persulphate as an oxidant in the presence of a HG hybrid. The structure and morphological properties of synthesized PAN-HG composites were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectra, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. The electrochemical properties of the composite particles were also analyzed by potentiodynamic polarization curves to evaluate the corrosion inhabitation.

Cellulosic aerogel from water hyacinth (WH) was synthesized to address the dual environmental issues of water hyacinth pollution and the production of a green material. Raw WH was treated with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) with microwave assistance and in combination with hydrogen peroxide (HO). The results from X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that lignin and hemicellulose were markedly decreased after treatment, reducing from 24.

In this study, the performance of poly(layered double hydroxides) [poly(LDHs)] beads as an adsorbent for arsenate removal from aqueous solution was investigated. The poly(LDHs) beads were prepared by immobilizing LDHs into spherical alginate/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-glutaraldehyde beads (spherical polymer beads). Batch adsorption studies were conducted to assess the effect of contact time, solution pH, initial arsenate concentrations and co-existing anions on arsenate removal performance.
