The evidence-based practice (EBP) competencies of cultivating inquiry and formulation of Population, Intervention, Outcome, and Time (PICOT) questions are essential to quality improvement, healthcare outcomes, and the development of Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) scholarly projects. Education and assessment of EBP competencies into the DNP curriculum, particularly formulation of PICOT questions, provide guidance and evaluate mastery of students' individual skills and group work. Utilization of a PICOT template is an approach to aid large cohorts of students in writing healthcare-specific PICOTs to guide them in search of quality evidence.

Mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) is a systemic autoinflammatory disease in which mast cells behave erratically.
