Glitches, spin-up events in neutron stars, are of prime interest, as they reveal properties of nuclear matter at subnuclear densities. We numerically investigate the glitch mechanism due to vortex unpinning using analogies between neutron stars and dipolar supersolids. We explore the vortex and crystal dynamics during a glitch and its dependence on the supersolid quality, providing a tool to study glitches from different radial depths of a neutron star.

Background: Mutations in the p110α catalytic subunit of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K), encoded by the PIK3CA gene, cause dysregulation of the PI3K pathway in 35-40% of patients with HR+/HER2- breast cancer. Preclinically, cancer cells harboring double or multiple PIK3CA mutations (mut) elicit hyperactivation of the PI3K pathway leading to enhanced sensitivity to p110α inhibitors.

Methods: To understand the role of multiple PIK3CAmut in predicting response to p110α inhibition, we estimated the clonality of multiple PIK3CAmut in circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) from patients with HR+/HER2- metastatic breast cancer enrolled to a prospectively registered clinical trial of fulvestrant ± taselisib, and analyzed the subgroups against co-altered genes, pathways, and outcomes.

Angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma (AFH) is a rare neoplasm described for the first time by Enzinger in 1979, and classified by World Health Organization 2020 as intermediate malignant potential neoplasm. It mostly occurs in the subcutis and is characterized by varying proportions of epithelioid, ovoid and spindle cells in a nodular and syncytial growth pattern, with some hemorrhagic pseudovascular spaces. In this paper, we report the clinical case of a 62-year-old man who presented with AFH on the right arm, and relapsed three years after first surgical excision.

Effective particle density is a key parameter for assessing inhalation exposure of engineered NPs in occupational environments. In this paper, particle density measurements were carried out using two different techniques: one based on the ratio between mass and volumetric particle concentrations; the other one based on the ratio between aerodynamic and geometric particle diameter. These different approaches were applied to both field- and laboratory-scale atomization processes where the two target NPs (N-doped TiO, TiON and AgNPs capped with a quaternized hydroxyethylcellulose, AgHEC) were generated.

Photocatalytic air purifiers based on nano-titanium dioxide (TiO ) visible light activation provide an efficient solution for removing and degrading contaminants in air. There are more than 70 distinct sarcomas, and this diversity complicates the development of precision-based therapeutics for these cancers. Prospective comprehensive genomic profiling could overcome this challenge by providing insight into sarcomas' molecular drivers. The aim of the present study was to determine cell of origin (COO) from a platform using a DNA-based method, COO DNA classifier (COODC). A targeted exome-sequencing platform that applies the mutational profile of a sample was used to classify COO subtype. Two major mutational signatures associated with COO were identified: Catalogue of Somatic Mutations in Cancer (COSMIC) signature 23 enriched in activated B cell (ABC) and COSMIC signature 3, which suggested increased frequency in germinal center B cell (GCB).

Based on the approvals of crizotinib and entrectinib by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of ROS1 positive nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC), we sought to examine the mutational profile of a variety of solid tumors (excluding sarcomas) with ROS1 fusions that underwent comprehensive genomic profiling. A review of our database was performed to extract all nonsarcoma patients with ROS1 fusions that were discovered by the hybrid capture-based DNA only sequencing assays. We examined the coalterations representing potentially targetable biomarkers, resistance alterations and other alterations in these cases.
