For this study, 95 female patients were identified over a 5-year period (beginning of 2006 to end of 2011) after catheter-based coil (+/- chemical) embolization of the ovarian vein due to peripheral primary or recurrent varicose veins and proven reflux in the ovarian vein. Treatment success was retrospectively assessed in 2014 by means of a structured telephone interview (n=60), clinical examination (n=56), duplex ultrasound (n=56) and magnetic resonance imaging (n=51) in patients who were willing to participate in the study.

The current study aimed at identifying the most informative cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) parameters for the assessment of LVDD.
Methods And Results: We prospectively included 50 patients and classified them into three groups: with DD (DD+, n = 15), without (DD-, n = 26), and uncertain (DD±, n = 9).
Patients with chronic wounds should receive wound treatment in addition to causative therapy. In this context, the lack of adequate evidence for wound healing products has been repeatedly discussed. Using the example of TLC-sucrose octasulfate (TLC: technology lipido-colloid), the present review shows that there is significant data with good evidence and comparability in this area.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe present study investigates the changes in dissolved organic matter (DOM) composition and its influences on trace metal dispersion from the Shuya River (SR) in the Petrozavodsk Bay of Lake Onega during ice-covered and ice-free periods. Humic substances (HS) found in the SR dominated the composition of DOM through the river-bay-lake continuum in both periods. When the bay was ice-covered, both the aromaticity and the size of HS varied in the water column according to a horizontal stratification and decreased in the bay, while under ice-free conditions, they decreased along the river-lake gradient, suggesting in both cases a decrease in the proportion of HS with high aromatic character.

While mechanisms of dewatering in sludges from wastewater treatment are well understood, it is not clear how dewatering of faecal sludge fits into the framework of existing knowledge. Due to the fact that mode of action as well as fate of these BOXes is widely unknown, larger amounts of these bilirubin degradation end products are required. The total synthesis of colorless (Z)-3-(5-(2-amino-2-oxoethylidene)-4-methyl-2-oxo-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrol-3-yl)propanoic acid (BOX C) succeeds via a seven-step procedure with a total yield of 20%.
