This paper investigates which elements are the ones that most influence the cruise passenger to recommend the onshore excursions, offering relevant information that could help all stakeholders (cruise firms, local operators, politicians, etc.) to better design/adapt shore excursions to the expectations of the cruise passengers, increasing the positive impact of this activity in the destination. The latter is essential for the existence of a good harmony between the cruise ships visiting a destination and the population living there.

Rhythm-generating circuits in the vertebrate hindbrain form synaptic connections with cranial and spinal motor neurons, to generate coordinated, patterned respiratory behaviors. Zebrafish provide a uniquely tractable model system to investigate the earliest stages in respiratory motor circuit development in vivo. In larval zebrafish, respiratory behaviors are carried out by muscles innervated by cranial motor neurons-including the facial branchiomotor neurons (FBMNs), which innervate muscles that move the jaw, buccal cavity, and operculum.

Gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA)-based composites are evolving three-dimensional (3D) networking hydrophilic protein composite scaffolds with high water content. These protein composites have been devoted to biomedical applications due to their unique abilities, such as flexibility, soft structure, versatility, stimuli-responsiveness, biocompatibility, biodegradability, and others. They resemble the native extracellular matrix (ECM) thanks to their remarkable cell-adhesion and matrix-metalloproteinase (MMP)-responsive amino acid motifs.

This work provides an insight into the external costs associated with ships which had been berthed in four Spanish ports before COVID-19 was on the agenda. Firstly, on a port-by-port level and by individual vessel types, as this can also provide valuable insights. The economic valuation is based on the combination of the significant bottom-up European studies which follow the impact pathway approach (IPA) to calculating costs from transport air emissions.

This paper provides insights into the potential of cold-ironing for the reduction of externalities. External cost derived from the emissions of CO, NO, SO, and PM from berthed ships in the Spanish port system during 2016 are estimated providing a Spain-wide empirical evidence into where the highest externalities exist and where, on a port by port level, the introduction of cold ironing could yield the highest potential on reducing said externalities. The combined overall external costs from both local and global effects of shipping emissions from berthed vessels were between 326 and 440 million Euro.

Pressure ulcers are skin injuries caused by long term exposition to high pressures on support points that interrupt blood circulation reducing the transport of oxygen and nutrients to the cells. They mainly affect people with poor mobility that stay in seating position for long periods of time. In spite of the diversity of commercial prototypes of cushions, ulcers caused by pressure are still a problem for wheelchair users.

Haden mango slices (non-osmotic dehydrated, NOD) were immersed in calcium chloride (2 g/l), citric acid (5 g/l), hydrogen peroxide (25 ml/l) and sodium benzoate (20 g/l) solutions. Slices to be treated with osmotic dehydration (OD) were first immersed in calcium, then placed in the osmotic solution (sucrose 65 degrees Bx, 30 degrees C) and 211 mbar vacuum was applied for 30 min. After the osmotic treatment, the slices were immersed in the same solutions as for NOD slices.

Methylprednisolone (glucocorticoid hormone, MPS), etoposide (epipodophyllotoxin inhibitor of a topoisomerase II), and thapsigargin (inhibitor of the endoplasmic reticular Ca2+-ATPase) were used as apoptosis-inducing agents in rat thymocytes. Early redox changes were determined during the early phase of induced apoptosis. The three agents induced apoptosis as assessed by DNA laddering after agarose gel electrophoresis and by quantitative DNA fragmentation.
