Aetiology of Vascular Purpura in a Single Centre Experience: Contribution of Clinical and Paraclinical Data.

Background: Vascular purpura can be the clinical expression of infectious, inflammatory, drug-related, neoplastic, and endocrine pathologies. To date, there is no consensus codifying the investigation of vascular purpura, especially when it is isolated.

Patients And Methods: We proposed to study through a retrospective study of 73 cases of vascular purpura, occurring during the period 2004-2019 in our internal medicine department, the contribution of various clinical and paraclinical data to the aetiological diagnosis of vascular purpura.

Introduction: Despite current recommendations, most asthmatics remain insufficiently controlled. This is largely due to non-adherence to medications. Looking for factors associated with lack of therapeutic adherence is mandatory in order to improve the management of these patients.

Cytogenetics in the management of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia: Guidelines from the Groupe Francophone de Cytogénétique Hématologique (GFCH).

Cytogenetic analysis is mandatory at initial assessment of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) due to its diagnostic and prognostic value. Results from chromosome banding analysis and complementary FISH are taken into account in therapeutic protocols and further completed by other techniques (RT-PCR, SNP-array, MLPA, NGS, OGM). Indeed, new genomic entities have been identified by NGS, mostly RNA sequencing, such as Ph-like ALL that can benefit from targeted therapy.

Cytogenetics in the management of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL): Guidelines from the Groupe Francophone de Cytogénétique Hématologique (GFCH).

Molecular analysis is the hallmark of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) categorization. Several T-ALL sub-groups are well recognized based on the aberrant expression of specific transcription factors. This recently resulted in the implementation of eight provisional T-ALL entities into the novel 2022 International Consensus Classification, albeit not into the updated World Health Organization classification system.

Yellow urticaria revealing overlap syndrome of autoimmune hepatitis and primary biliary cholangitis.

Yellow urticaria is a variant of urticaria that is rarely reported in the literature. It usually occurs in the setting of a chronic liver disease and reflects the accumulation of bilirubin in the skin tissues. We report a case of yellow urticaria that occurred in a 33-year-old female patient suffering from systemic lupus erythematosus and overlap syndrome of autoimmune hepatitis and primary biliary cholangitis revealed by a migratory pruritic yellowish urticarial eruption on the trunk and limbs.

Flagellate dermatitis: An atypical skin finding in adult-onset Still's disease.

A 23-year-old woman followed for adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) presented fever and chest pain. Clinical examination showed erythematous papules suggestive of flagellate dermatitis. Laboratory findings showed increased Cardiac troponin.

Development and validation of a stability-indicating high performance liquid chromatographic assay for determination of cariprazine in bulk form and in drug product.

The aim of the present study is to develop a stability indicating high performance liquid chromatographic method for the determination of cariprazine in bulk substance and in drug product. The chromatographic separation was carried out using a Phenomenex Kinetex® C18 column (5μm, 250×4.6mm) and a mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile-potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate buffer (pH 4; 50mM) (30:70, v/v), at a flow rate of 1mlmin -1 and UV detection at 248nm.

Pseudodicentric Chromosome Originating from an X-Autosome Translocation in a Male Patient with Cryptozoospermia.

Genetic factors are responsible for 15% of male infertility conditions. Numerical and structural chromosomal anomalies are validated genetic factors leading to spermatogenic quantitative defects, with a frequency depending on the severity of the phenotype. Among the structural chromosomal rearrangements, dicentric chromosomes are generally observed in robertsonian translocations or in cases of Y chromosome isodicentrics.

[A rare cause of pulmonary arterial hypertension: Thoracic amyloidosis].

Isolated thoracic involvement in amyloidosis is a rare and serious condition. Its association with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) usually weakens the prognosis. We report the case of a 40-year-old man with a smoking history, hospitalized for chest pain, abdominal pain and acute respiratory distress.

[Nutritional status and dietary intake in patients with chonic obstructive pulmonary disease].

Maximal voluntary inspiratory breath-holding time (MVIBHT) has proved to be of clinical utility in some obstructive ventilatory defects. This study aims to correlate the breath-holding time with pulmonary function tests in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and to determine the feasibility of using a breath-holding test in assessing the severity of COPD.A cross-sectional study including male patients with stable COPD were conducted.

Pheochromocytoma presenting as an authentic small vessel vasculitis and complicated with pulmonary embolism: An original presentation.

Diagnosis of pheochromocytoma can be simple when classic manifestations are present. It can also be challenging and complicated in some cases because of its wide array of faces and presentations. We present a case of a 30-year-old female patient who came with acute respiratory distress, chest pain, hemoptysis, asthenia, anorexia, weight loss of 20kg, and paresthesia in her lower limbs.

COPD patients' body composition and its impact on lung function.

[Characteristics of cardiac involvement in eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis].

Aim Of The Study: Our study aimed to identify the characteristics of cardiac involvement in eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA).

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analytic study including EGPA cases diagnosed between 2000 and 2019 in an internal medicine department. Diagnosis was made according to the 1990 American College of Rheumatology criteria and the 2012 Chapel Hill Concensus.

[Assessment of body composition during pulmonary tuberculosis].

Background: Although the body mass index (BMI) is the most commonly used tool to assess the nutritional status of patients with active tuberculosis (TB), it does not assess changes in body composition. This study aims to assess the contribution of bioelectrical impedancemetry (BIA) for the assessment of body composition during the course of TB compared to BMI and to examine the associated factors.

Contribution of mobile applications to learning and medical practice.

Introduction: Medical mobile applications are increasing, accessible and easy leading to a considerable increase use by physicians.

Aim: To assess the contribution of mobile applications to medical learning and practice among medical residents.

Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study carried out during May and June 2021, via an anonymous questionnaire, published online focusing on the contribution of medical applications in the learning and the daily life of medical interns.

[Testosterone and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease].

Breathing pattern during sequential swallowing in healthy adult humans.

Sequential liquid swallowing is a common daily occurrence during which coordination of deglutition and breathing are highly regulated to avoid pulmonary aspiration and to maintain hematosis. We studied the effects of sequential water swallowing (SWS) at fixed swallowing rates and with regular succession of swallows on respiration in healthy subjects. Thirty-one normal adults (19 men, 12 women) with a mean age of 27.
