A novel silica-based material (SBM), synthesized from chemically-, thermally-, and mechanically-treated blast furnace slag (TBFS), was examined for its batch-mode lead adsorption capacity based on various parameters. Physicochemical examinations revealed that the formulation of the new SBM consisted mainly of silica, which represented 81.79% of its total composition.

The characterization of the synthetized bifunctional electrode (PbO/SnO-SbO/Ti//Ti/TiO) was performed by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry and X-ray diffraction analysis and showed that the anodic side (Ti/SnO-SbO/PbO) is covered with a tetragonal β-PbO film and that the photocatalytic side (Ti/TiO) consists of an anatase phase of TiO. The single application of electrooxidation achieved 87.
