Significance: Imaging deep structures with optical coherence tomography (OCT) is difficult in highly scattering biological tissue, such as the sclera. There is a need to visualize the suprachoroidal space and choroid through the sclera to study suprachoroidal drug delivery.
Aim: We aim to develop optical methods to image through the highly scattering sclera with a custom-built OCT system to visualize the suprachoroidal space and drug delivery within.

Objective: While emergency departments (EDs) are crucial for identifying patients at risk for falls, existing fall risk measures are often inaccurate. This study aimed to assess whether iPhone sensor-based mobility measures collected after ED discharge can improve fall prediction compared with traditional ED-based screening measures.
Methods: This single-center, observational cohort study recruited ED patients aged 60 or older who owned an iPhone.
Purpose: To evaluate the clinical outcomes and prognostic factors in unilateral Coats disease in the era of anti-VEGF therapy.
Design: Global, multicenter, retrospective case series.
Subjects: 656 eyes of 656 subjects with Coats disease were included in this study.
Suprachoroidal injections are a relatively new method of drug delivery to treat retinal disease. At present, it is difficult to visualize the distribution of injection-delivered product beneath the sclera into the suprachoroidal space. Imaging the suprachoroidal space with OCT is hindered by scattering of light from densely packed collagen fibers of the sclera, limiting depth penetration of the OCT light.

In this study we develop and validate a machine learning system for cancer assessment, inclusive of detection of perineural invasion and measurement of cancer portion to meet clinical reporting needs. The system analyses the whole slide image in three consecutive stages: tissue detection, classification, and slide level analysis.

Three patients (72 to 83 years old) had 25-gauge pars plana vitrectomy, subretinal tPA, and a partial gas fill. An investigational intraoperative OCT system with a modified widefield noncontact indirect viewing apparatus was used to image subretinal tPA blebs.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the feasibility of having older adults provide weekly accelerometer data from an instrumented Timed Up-and-Go (TUG) test over an 11-week period after ED discharge.
Metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) were recovered from metagenomic assemblies from a nitrate-reducing benzene-degrading enrichment culture. Ten MAGs of high quality or functional interest to benzene degradation are reported, seven of which are single contig genomes.

We present a metagenome assembled genome (MAG) of an anaerobic bacterium from a nitrate-reducing, benzene-degrading enrichment culture (NRBC). The draft genome consists of 20 contigs with a total length of 4.09 Mbp and includes putative carboxylase genes likely involved in benzene activation.

We achieved an average crystallinity of 43 % by heat treatment, which was unaffected by UV-C irradiation. Modulated differential scanning calorimetry showed that crystal polymorphs and the ratio of rigid amorphous and mobile amorphous phases were also unaffected.

Historically, clinician-experts demonstrate variable agreement for plus diagnosis. We developed a 9-photograph reference image set for grading plus-like changes and compared intergrader agreement of the set with standard grading with no plus, preplus, and plus disease.

Two distinct synthetic methods, reduction-precipitation (M) and co-precipitation at controlled pH (M), were explored, including the assessment of the coating's influence, namely dextran and gold, on their magnetic properties. These SPIONs were further functionalized with gadolinium to act as dual T1/T2 contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Participants were asked to discuss problems related to travel during the COVID-19 pandemic and make recommendations for possible solutions. Two probes (prototypes) of a non-visual neighborhood travel map and a non-visual COVID-19 choropleth map (a map using colors or sounds over each state to represent different values) of COVID-19 state data were shown to participants for inspiration.

Methods: For preterm infants with acceptable OCT images at 32 ± 1 weeks postmenstrual age (PMA), we extracted the following measures: total retina, inner retinal layer (IRL), and outer retinal layer (ORL) thicknesses at the fovea and the parafovea, inner nuclear layer (INL) and choroidal thickness, parafovea/fovea (P/F) ratio, and presence of macular edema.
An open-field 3-year-long microplot experiment was set up with three micropropagated lines (SC Blossom, BFT Indiana, and STM Hajdúsági) of giant reed ( L.). Plants were grown on a soil cover of a former sewage settling pond located in Debrecen Lovász-Zug, Hungary.

Description Of The Project/program: Creation of a scorecard highlighting the financial impact of the clinical nurse specialist team was used to disseminate financial outcomes to hospital executive stakeholders, allowing the clinical nurse specialist team to demonstrate its clinical and financial value.
Outcome: During development and ongoing maintenance of the scorecard, the clinical nurse specialist team cultivated skills to identify the financial impact of projects.
Using data for 201 regions (NUTS 2) in Europe, we examine the mortality burden of the COVID-19 pandemic and how the mortality inequalities between regions changed between 2020 and 2022. We show that over the three years of the pandemic, not only did the level of excess mortality rate change considerably, but also its geographical distribution. Focusing on life expectancy as a summary measure of mortality conditions, we find that the variance of regional life expectancy increased sharply in 2021 but returned to the pre-pandemic level in 2022.

Background: Technological advancements in imaging enhance both preoperative and intraoperative management of surgical VR diseases. Widefield imaging in fundal photography and OCT can improve assessment of peripheral retinal disorders such as retinal detachments, degeneration, and tumors.
The precise extraction of road boundaries is an essential task to obtain road infrastructure data that can support various applications, such as maintenance, autonomous driving, vehicle navigation, and the generation of high-definition maps (HD map). Despite promising outcomes in prior studies, challenges persist in road extraction, particularly in discerning diverse road types. The proposed methodology integrates state-of-the-art techniques like DBSCAN and RANSAC, aiming to establish a universally applicable approach for diverse mobile mapping systems.

Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) offers vascular flow and depth information not available from indirect ophthalmoscopy and structural OCT, but OCTA is only commercially available as a tabletop device. In this study, we used an investigational handheld OCTA device to study the vascular flow in and around retinal neovascularization in seven preterm infants with treatment-requiring ROP and contrasted them to images of vascular flow in six infants of similar age without neovascular ROP.
