Aim: To compare the outcomes of therapy using recombinant human fibroblast growth factor (rhFGF)-2 combined with autologous bone grafting (ABG) therapy with those of rhFGF-2 alone and ABG alone in the treatment of periodontal intraosseous defects.
Methods: Periodontal intraosseous defects were randomized to receive rhFGF-2 therapy + ABG, rhFGF-2 therapy alone, or ABG alone. Periodontal examination and periapical radiography were performed preoperatively and at 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively.
Purpose: Tooth transplantation is a treatment that uses non-functional teeth to compensate for defects caused by tooth extractions. Surgical procedures have yielded high success rates in autologous tooth transplantation using a tooth with a complete root. In this case, transvaginal sonography did not reveal the umbilical cord beyond the fetal head before maternal urination; however, 5 minute later, a fore-lying umbilical cord was revealed between the floating fetal head and the uterine cervix after urination. The present case indicates the importance of careful evaluation of preterm premature rupture of the membranes by means of transvaginal ultrasonography in predicting umbilical cord prolapse.

In this article, we investigated the enzymatic treatment of three estrogens (estrone, 17beta-estradiol, and 17alpha-ethynyletstradiol) by a fungal laccase which oxidize phenolic compounds with dissolved oxygen. The elimination of the estrogenic activities by enzymatic oxidation was demonstrated by medaka vitellogenin assay.
