- The study aimed to develop guidelines for antibiotic use during tooth extractions in cancer patients on denosumab, as there's a risk of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ).
- It analyzed 68 cancer patients' antibiotic administration practices and their correlation with MRONJ after tooth extractions over a 10-year period.
- Results showed a lot of inconsistency in antibiotic usage among hospitals, with amoxicillin being the most common; however, no significant link between MRONJ occurrence and the dosage or duration of amoxicillin was identified, suggesting a single preoperative dose may be sufficient.
Purpose: In maxillary wisdom tooth extraction, the necessity of CT is unknown. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether CT adding to orthopantomography is useful for predicting oroantral perforation during maxillary third molar extraction.
Methods: Various risk factors for oroantral perforation during maxillary third molar extraction were investigated by univariate and multivariate analyses.
