Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated postoperative swallowing function in head and neck cancer patients using the AsR score, a 10-point scale for videofluoroscopic examination of swallowing (VF).
  • A review of 146 patients showed that the first VF AsR score accurately indicated the continuation of direct therapy post-surgery (AUC = 0.946).
  • The last VF AsR score effectively identified patients' oral intake ability at discharge (AUC = 0.925), demonstrating the AsR score's usefulness in quantitatively assessing swallowing function in oral cancer patients.
