Background: Chronic treatment with selective serotonin (5-HT) reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) facilitates adult neurogenesis and reverses the state of maturation in mature granule cells (GCs) in the dentate gyrus (DG) of the hippocampus. Recent studies have suggested that the 5-HT4 receptor is involved in both effects. However, it is largely unknown how the 5-HT4 receptor mediates neurogenic effects in the DG and, how the neurogenic and dematuration effects of SSRIs interact with each other.

He had worked at a printing plant for 8 years and been exposed to organic solvents, including 1,2-dichloropropane (1,2-DCP) and dichloromethane (DCM). Abdominal computed tomography (CT) showed an intrahepatic tumor with dilation of the intrahepatic bile duct.

Electroconvulsive seizure (ECS) therapy is highly effective in the treatment of several psychiatric diseases, including depression, but may also have beneficial effects in other neurological diseases. Although it has been reported that the neurons of the VMH are strongly activated by ECS stimulation, the specific effects of ECS in this hypothalamic subnucleus remain unknown.

We started systemic chemotherapy(SCT) comprising 5-fluorouracil(5-FU; 1 g) and gemcitabine(GEM; 1 g) biweekly. After 1 course of SCT, we treated her with high-dose hepatic arterial injection (6 g 5-FU/1 week).

Various treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy are not sufficient, and the outcome is generally poor in many cases. We report here on a patient with multiple regional metastases who was successfully treated with several therapies and remains still alive.

The catheter was easily removed in all cases, which resulted in improved patients' quality of life as well as preserved patency of hepatic arteries. However, arterial bleeding was occurred postoperatively in one case, which needed a surgical treatment.

Mutations in the TK genes from ACV(r) mutants consisted of 50% single nucleotide substitutions and 50% frameshift mutations, while the corresponding figures for the PCV(r) mutants were 4 and 96%, respectively (P < 0.001).
