Intravascular large T-cell lymphoma: a case report of CD30-positive and ALK-negative anaplastic type with cytotoxic molecule expression.

We reported a case of intravascular T-cell lymphoma (T-IVL) with anaplastic large cell morphology, the hemophagocytic syndrome, and an aggressive clinical course. Phenotypic analysis of the tumor cells revealed CD2+, CD3-, CD4+, CD5-, CD8-, CD30+, CD56-, T-cell receptor alpha/beta-, ALK-, TIA1+, granzyme B+, and perforin+. No association with Epstein-Barr virus was found by in situ hybridization.

Endometrial atypical hyperplasia with clear cell change spreading throughout the endometrium.

An unusually rare case of atypical endometrial hyperplasia with clear cell change (metaplasia) spreading through almost the whole endometrium of a 37-year-old woman with infertility and abnormal bleeding is reported.

Randomized study of single early instillation of (2"R)-4'-O-tetrahydropyranyl-doxorubicin for a single superficial bladder carcinoma.

Background: Although transurethral resection of a bladder tumor (TUR-Bt) alone has been standard treatment for single superficial bladder carcinoma, some authors reported a certain prophylactic effect of a single immediate intravesical instillation of chemotherapeutic agent after TUR-Bt. A prospective randomized study was conducted to determine whether a single (2"R)-4'-O-tetrahydropyranyl-doxorubicin (THP) instillation immediately after TUR-Bt is beneficial to patients with a single superficial bladder carcinoma.

Methods: One hundred seventy patients with a single resectable superficial bladder carcinoma (Ta-1, primary or recurrent with no recurrence during the last 1 year) were enrolled in this study.

[The need for a postgraduate training curriculum in anatomic pathology/clinical pathology in Japan--a personal experience].

After I graduated from Nagoya University School of Medicine in 1979, I was trained as a resident and physician at Nagoya Ekisaikai Hospital for 4 years. Then, I was trained as an anatomic pathologist by individual discussions of diagnostic problems using a multi-headed microscope at the Division of Pathology, Clinical Laboratory, Nagoya University Hospital for 5 years. When I entered the field of clinical pathology, there were few experienced clinical pathologists in Nagoya, so I needed the support of medical technologists for training in this field.
