Effects of short-term immobilization of the upper limb on the somatosensory pathway: a study of short-latency somatosensory evoked potentials.

[Purpose] Previous studies have reported that the nervous system is influenced during short-term cast immobilization. However, the effects of short-term inactivity on somatosensory information processing systems are not well understood. This study investigated the effect of 10 h of upper limb immobilization on the somatosensory pathway using short-latency somatosensory evoked potentials.

Aminocella lysinolytica gen. nov., sp. nov., a L-lysine-degrading, strictly anaerobic bacterium in the class Clostridia isolated from a methanogenic reactor of cattle farms.

A strictly anaerobic bacterial strain (WN037(T)) was isolated from a methanogenic reactor. Cells were Gram-positive rods. Strain WN037(T) was asaccharolytic.

[Development of image quality assurance support system using image recognition technology in radiography in lacked images of chest and abdomen].

In order to provide a precise radiography for diagnosis, it is required that we avoid radiography with defects by having enough evaluation. Conventionally, evaluation was performed only by observation of a radiological technologist (RT). The evaluation support system was developed for providing a high quality assurance without depending on RT observation only.

A needle-type optical enzyme sensor system for determining glucose levels in fish blood.

A needle-type biosensor system was developed for rapid and simple determination of glucose levels in fish blood. The sensor comprises a needle-type hollow container (18-gauge needle), immobilized enzyme membrane and optic fiber probe with ruthenium complex. The enzyme membrane was prepared from glucose oxidase, azide-unit pendant water-soluble photopolymer and an ultra-thin dialysis membrane.
