Background: Burnout, by definition, is related to adverse chronic workplace stressors. Life events outside the workplace have been associated with an increased risk of psychiatric morbidity. However, it is unknown whether life events outside the workplace increase the severity of burnout.

Aberrant salience relationship with first rank symptoms.

Background: Aberrant salience is the incorrect assignment of salience, significance, or value to different innocuous stimuli that might precede the onset of psychotic symptoms. Background: School-based measurement of children's body mass index (BMI) is a useful tool for tracking childhood obesity rates, and may be an effective intervention strategy for reducing the increasing trends in obesity. This article examines the relationship between state law, district policy, and school-level BMI measurement practices.

Methods: Data were collected during 3 school years (2006-2007, 2007-2008, 2008-2009) as part of an annual study on health policies and practices in a nationally representative sample of US public elementary schools.

Genotoxicity of aqueous elutions of industrial soils.

The genotoxicity of industrial soils was evaluated. A single cell electrophoresis assay or comet assay, using eleocyte cells of Eisenia foetida, was performed to assess the genotoxicity of aqueous elutions. These were obtained from industrial soils containing metals.

Risk assessment of domestic and industrial effluents unloaded into a freshwater environment.

An ecotoxicologic study was performed to assess the environmental status of the Lujan River. It is an important freshwater system in the northeast of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. Surface waters (SWs) and liquids effluents (LEs), before they reached the river, and sediments were assessed via acute toxicity screening using a battery of tests with native species.

Effects of paraquat on mortality and cardiorespiratory function of catfish fry Plecostomus commersoni.

The effects of a paraquat commercial herbicide formulation on an early stage of the development of Plecostomus commersoni were evaluated. Mortality, opercular ventilation rate, cardiac contraction rate and body length and weight were examined every 12 hr. The effects of the paraquat formulation on the morphology of the branchial epithelium were also examined by light microscopy.
