Identifying Chirality in Line Drawings of Molecules Using Imbalanced Dataset Sampler for a Multilabel Classification Task.

Chirality, the ability of some molecules to exist as two non-superimposable mirror images, profoundly influences both chemistry and biology. Advances in deep learning enable the automatic recognition of chemical structure diagrams, however, studies on discovering the molecule chirality are scarce and the machine-readable molecular representations are not always sufficient to fully support the encoding of this important property. Here, we pretrained networks on a ChEMBL+ dataset (79641 molecules) and fine-tuned them for the binary classification of chirality (achiral/chiral) or multilabel chirality type classifications (none/centre/axial/planar).

Quality Improvement in Thyroid Fine-Needle Aspiration Biopsy accuracy at San Juan City Hospital Endocrinology Clinics.

Objective: This study aimed to determine if there was a reduction in the amount of non-diagnostic cytopathology results of thyroid fine-needle aspiration (FNA) biopsies performed at San Juan City Hospital (SJCH) endocrinology clinics since the inclusion of a cytopathologist at the clinics.

Methods: This research consisted of a retrospective analysis of thyroid nodule FNA biopsy results performed at SJCH endocrinology clinics. The biopsies analyzed were performed during academic years from July 2017-June 2018 and July 2018-June 2019, a period that reflects one academic year prior and a year after the inclusion of a cytopathologist to the clinics.

Lingual thyroid gland: it's time for awareness.

Summary: Lingual thyroid (LT) gland is the most common type of ectopic thyroid tissue, but it is an extremely rare presentation. We present a case of a 41-year-old Hispanic female patient complaining of dysphonia and dysphagia. As part of the evaluation, fiber optic flexible indirect laryngoscopy (FIL) was performed which revealed a mass at the base of the tongue.

A baby's gestational age determines whether or not they are premature, which helps clinicians decide on suitable post-natal treatment. The most accurate dating methods use Ultrasound Scan (USS) machines, but these are expensive, require trained personnel and cannot always be deployed to remote areas. In the absence of USS, the Ballard Score, a postnatal clinical examination, can be used.

Background: Computer-based phenotyping of plants has risen in importance in recent years. Whilst much software has been written to aid phenotyping using image analysis, to date the vast majority has been only semi-automatic. However, such interaction is not desirable in high throughput approaches.

Minimally invasive clamp-assisted reduction and cephalomedullary nailing without cerclage cables for subtrochanteric femur fractures in the elderly: Surgical technique and results.

Introduction: The treatment of subtrochanteric fractures in the elderly remains technically challenging, due to instability and osteoporosis, with high reoperation rates. Even if intramedullary nailing is the most reliable treatment, reduction is difficult and cerclage wiring remains controversial. The purpose of this study was to evaluate 26 consecutive subtrochanteric fractures in elderly patients treated with a minimally invasive clamp-assisted reduction and cephalomedullary nailing without cerclage wiring.

[Radiation safety in orthopaedic operating theatres. What is the current situation?].

Objective: To analyse the exposure of two Orthopaedic Surgeons to ionizing radiations in their daily work, and to review the main national and international recommendations on this subject.

Material And Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on the surgical treatments that use fluoroscopy performed by two Orthopaedic Surgeons during a one year period. An evaluation was made of the radiation received, based on measurements of the processes published in the bibliography section.

We assembled 473 Mb of the 587-Mb genome and genetically anchored 98% of this sequence in 11 chromosome-scale pseudomolecules.

[Investigation of vectors and reservoirs in an acute Chagas outbreak due to possible oral transmission in Aguachica, Cesar, Colombia].

Colombia recorded 11 cases of acute Chagas disease and 80 cases of oral contamination with Trypanosoma cruzi. The current study analyzes the entomological and parasitological characteristics of the outbreak in Aguachica, Cesar Department, in 2010. An interdisciplinary group of health professionals and regional university personnel conducted the laboratory tests in the patients and the investigation of the transmission focus.

Triplane fracture of distal radius treated surgically: case report and review of the literature.

Only four cases of triplane distal radius fracture have been described in the literature. We report the first that has been treated with open reduction and internal fixation. A 15-year-old boy sustained a triplane fracture of the distal radius.

New perspectives on neonatal hyperbilirubinemia.

Notwithstanding a number of advances in the understanding of hyperbilirubinemia and its treatment in the newborn, controversy continues. The trend has been to decrease interventions and observe and manage infants with jaundice as outpatients. This trend will probably prove to be both medically and economically sound.
