Nurses are increasingly focused on a practice based on scientific knowledge. However, it is important to distinguish high-quality evidence that can be applied in practice from studies of low or dubious scientific quality. Therefore, nurses must base their practice on structural support that allows for the definition of personalized and context-specific interventions.

Article Synopsis
  • Patients with aortic stenosis (AS) often have calcified coronary artery disease, needing atherectomy to improve outcomes during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI); however, there is limited data on the effectiveness of PCI with or without atherectomy for these patients.
  • A study analyzed hospital data from 2016 to 2019, finding that 88.6% of AS patients underwent PCI-only, while 2.3% and 9.1% had orbital and non-orbital atherectomy respectively, with costs of atherectomy being higher than PCI-only.
  • The results showed an increase in PCI procedures and the use of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), indicating that IVUS-guided atherectomy

Solvent molecules alter the free energies of liquid phase species and adsorbed intermediates during catalytic reactions, thereby impacting rates and selectivities. Here, we examine these effects through the epoxidation of 1-hexene (CH) with hydrogen peroxide (HO) over hydrophilic and hydrophobic Ti-BEA zeolites immersed in aqueous solvent mixtures (acetonitrile, methanol, and γ-butyrolactone). Greater HO mole fractions provide greater epoxidation rates, lower HO decomposition rates, and hence improved HO selectivities to the desired epoxide product in each combination of solvent and zeolite.

Pomegranate seeds contain up to 20% oil with a high content of punicic acid (85%), which is responsible for several biological activities. In this work, two pomegranate oils obtained by a two-step sequential extraction, first with an expeller and then via supercritical CO technologies, have been studied in a static gastrointestinal in vitro digestion model to evaluate their bioaccessibility. The micellar phases obtained were evaluated by an in vitro model of intestinal inflammation and Caco-2 cells exposed to the inflammatory mediator lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

Background More than half of cancers could be prevented by employing evidence-based interventions (EBIs), including prevention interventions targeting nutrition, physical activity, and tobacco. Federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) are the primary source of patient care for over 30 million Americans - making them an optimal setting for ensuring evidence-based prevention that advances health equity. The aims of this study are to: 1) determine the degree to which primary cancer prevention EBIs are being implemented within Massachusetts FQHCs and 2) describe how these EBIs are implemented internally and via community partnerships.

In this work, we present a new nonlinear joint transform correlator (JTC) architecture in the Fourier domain (FD) for the encryption and decryption of two simultaneous images. The main features of the proposed system are its increased level of security, the obtention of a single real-valued encrypted signal that contains the ciphered information of the two primary images and, additionally, a high image quality for the two final decrypted signals. The two images to be encrypted can be either related to each other, or independent signals.
