Background: The ovarian response to gonadotropin stimulation varies widely among women, and could impact the probability of live birth as well as treatment risks. Many studies have evaluated the impact of different gonadotropin starting doses, mainly based on predictive variables like ovarian reserve tests (ORT) including anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), antral follicle count (AFC), and basal follicle-stimulating hormone (bFSH). A Cochrane systematic review revealed that individualizing the gonadotropin starting dose does not affect efficacy in terms of ongoing pregnancy/live birth rates, but may reduce treatment risks such as the development of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).

Background: Nosocomial infections are a major healthcare challenge, developing in over 20% of patients aged 45 or over undergoing major abdominal surgery, with postoperative pneumonia associated with an almost 5-fold increase in 30-day mortality.
Methods: From a prospective consecutive cohort (n=150) undergoing major abdominal surgery, whole-blood RNA was collected preoperatively and at 3 time-points postoperatively (2-6, 24, and 48 h).
Background: In IVF/ICSI treatment, the process of embryo implantation is the success rate-limiting step. Endometrial scratching has been suggested to improve this process, but it is unclear if this procedure increases the chance of implantation and live birth (LB) and, if so, for whom, and how the scratch should be performed.
Objective And Rationale: This individual participant data meta-analysis (IPD-MA) aims to answer the question of whether endometrial scratching in women undergoing IVF/ICSI influences the chance of a LB, and whether this effect is different in specific subgroups of women.

Background: Intentional endometrial injury is being proposed as a technique to improve the probability of pregnancy in women undergoing assisted reproductive technologies (ART) such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF). Endometrial injury is often performed by pipelle biopsy and is a common gynaecological procedure with established safety. However, it causes a moderate degree of discomfort/pain and requires an additional pelvic examination.

Evidence on whether levothyroxine treatment improves pregnancy outcomes in women who are TPO-Ab positive women with recurrent pregnancy loss is scarce. The aim of this study was to determine if levothyroxine increases live birth rates in women who were TPO-Ab positive with recurrent pregnancy loss and normal thyroid function.

The extent of their use in Scotland appears to be low especially when compared to other drug groups such as opioids and benzodiazepines. There is a concern, however, that the use is widespread in prison populations in particular.

Summary Answer: The incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) for an endometrial scratch was €6524 per additional live birth, but due to uncertainty regarding the increase in live birth rate this has to be interpreted with caution.
What Is Known Already: Endometrial scratching is thought to improve the chances of success in couples with previously failed embryo implantation in IVF/ICSI treatment. It has been widely implemented in daily practice, despite the lack of conclusive evidence of its effectiveness and without investigating whether scratching allows for a cost-effective method to reduce the number of IVF/ICSI cycles needed to achieve a live birth.

We previously showed that a mutant mouse, named Der1, recapitulates the effect of the translocation upon DISC1 expression. Here, RNAseq analysis of Der1 mouse brain tissue found enrichment for dysregulation of the same genes and molecular pathways as in neuron cultures generated previously from human t(1;11) translocation carriers via the induced pluripotent stem cell route.

Extraction of the cannabinoids was carried out by a polymeric strong anion mixed-mode solid-phase extraction cartridge and then employing methanolic HCl followed by 2-fluoro-1-methylpyridinium-p-toluenesulfonate (FMP-TS) as a derivatization procedure of carboxyl and phenolic groups, respectively, offering enhanced sensitivity for the detection of THC-COOH in hair matrices. Formation of a methyl ester increased its lipophilicity and removed the negative charge on the carboxyl group.

Summary Answer: In this study, 4.6% more live births were observed in the scratch group, with a likely certainty range between -0.7% and +9.
Study Question: Can a core outcome set to standardize outcome selection, collection, and reporting across future infertility research be developed?
Summary Answer: A minimum data set, known as a core outcome set, has been developed for randomized controlled trials (RCT) and systematic reviews evaluating potential treatments for infertility.
What Is Known Already: Complex issues, including a failure to consider the perspectives of people with fertility problems when selecting outcomes, variations in outcome definitions, and the selective reporting of outcomes on the basis of statistical analysis, make the results of infertility research difficult to interpret.
Study Design, Size, Duration: A three-round Delphi survey (372 participants from 41 countries) and consensus development workshop (30 participants from 27 countries).

Study Design, Size, Duration: A three-round Delphi survey (372 participants from 41 countries) and consensus development workshop (30 participants from 27 countries).
Study Question: Can the priorities for future research in infertility be identified?
Summary Answer: The top 10 research priorities for the four areas of male infertility, female and unexplained infertility, medically assisted reproduction and ethics, access and organization of care for people with fertility problems were identified.
What Is Known Already: Many fundamental questions regarding the prevention, management and consequences of infertility remain unanswered. This is a barrier to improving the care received by those people with fertility problems.
Study Question: Can consensus definitions for the core outcome set for infertility be identified in order to recommend a standardized approach to reporting?
Summary Answer: Consensus definitions for individual core outcomes, contextual statements and a standardized reporting table have been developed.
What Is Known Already: Different definitions exist for individual core outcomes for infertility. This variation increases the opportunities for researchers to engage with selective outcome reporting, which undermines secondary research and compromises clinical practice guideline development.
The success of forensic investigations involving fatalities very often depends on the establishment of the correct timeline of events. Currently used methods for estimating the postmortem interval (PMI) are mostly dependent on the professional and tacit experience of the investigator, and often with poor reliability in the absence of robust biological markers. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential of metabolomic approaches to highlight molecular markers for PMI.

Design: Endometrial tissue was obtained from six infertile women through minimally invasive biopsy using a Pipelle catheter and subjected to organoid development, immediately after biopsy as well as after tissue cryopreservation. Organoid formation efficiency, morphology, expandability potential, endometrial marker expression (immunostaining and reverse transcription quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction) and hormonal responsiveness (after oestradiol and progesterone treatment) were assessed.
Results: Organoids established from both fresh and frozen tissue at comparable efficiency could be passaged long-term and showed similar morphology, i.
Study Question: Does septum resection improve reproductive outcomes in women with a septate uterus?
Summary Answer: In women with a septate uterus, septum resection does not increase live birth rate nor does it decrease the rates of pregnancy loss or preterm birth, compared with expectant management.
What Is Known Already: The septate uterus is the most common uterine anomaly with an estimated prevalence of 0.2-2.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence and abuse potential of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) among prison populations in Scotland, UK. Participants consisted of all admitted and released prisoners over a 1 month period who consented to provide samples. Urine samples were collected and analyzed by liquid chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry using a method validated for the simultaneous quantification of 21 AEDs in urine.

Female age and body weight have been suggested to cause heterogeneity in the effect of FSH dose individualization. The objective of the current study is to evaluate whether these patient characteristics modify the effect of AFC-based individualized FSH dosing in IVF/ICSI treatment.
