Liver ischemia/reperfusion (IR) often affects distant organs, such as small intestine, kidney, and lung. Coriandrum sativum (CS) has an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect on liver damage. The aim of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory and antiapoptotic effects of CS extract on small intestine, lung, and kidney after the liver IR injury.

Article Synopsis
  • The study assessed the effectiveness of Coriandrum sativum extract in reducing liver ischaemia reperfusion injury by examining both micro and biochemical changes in liver tissues.
  • Various groups were created: control (sham), injury only, and treatment with the extract, with specific measurements for liver enzymes (ALT, AST, ALP) and histological changes.
  • Results showed that treatment with Coriandrum sativum led to less tissue damage and lower liver enzyme levels, indicating its potential protective anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects against liver injury.
