[The level of neopterin in the plasma of patients with acute kidney failure during treatment with continuous arteriovenous hemofiltration].

Neopterin is a biochemical marker of cellular mediated immune reactions and may be used in elucidating the cause of acute renal failure. 9 patients (6 males, 3 females) aged 23 to 56 years suffering from a severe form of the disease were examined. [The function of the hypophyseal-gonadal system in different variants of glomerulonephritis in children].

A total of 28 children with different varieties of glomerulonephritis were examined for the pituitary-gonadal system (PGS). The examination included measurements of follicle-stimulating and luteinizing hormones, prolactin, estradiol, progesterone and testosterone. [The importance of the radioimmunological determination of tumor markers in the diagnosis of malignant lymphomas].

The investigation was conducted to study the role of the determination of tumor markers (CEA, beta 2-microglobulin, IgE and ferritin) in patients with malignant lymphomas. Altogether 66 patients with Hodgkin's disease, 60 with non-Hodgkin's lymphomas and 15 with clinico-hematological remission over one year were investigated, using commercial kits of reagents. An increase in the level of beta 2 was shown to depend on the spreading of a lymphoproliferative process.

[Function of the hypothalamo-hypophyseal-thyroid system in juvenile enlargement of the thyroid].

A study of TTH, T3 and T4 content in the blood serum of adolescents with juvenile thyroid enlargement showed changes which were typical of subclinical hypothyrosis. A conclusion is made about the necessity of a follow-up of children with juvenile thyroid enlargement and administration of pathogenetic therapy with thyroid hormonal drugs.

[Radioimmunological determination of the level of serum ferritin in liver diseases].

Altogether 113 patients with different hepatic diseases and 35 persons of the control group were examined. A significant difference in the level of serum ferritin was found in patients with cancer of extrahepatic site without hepatic metastases and in patients with metastatic involvement of the liver. In the patients with diagnosed cancer of extrahepatic site, the level of serum ferritin higher than 300 micrograms/l for men and 200 micrograms/l for women was the sign of metastatic involvement of the liver.

[Serum thyrocalcitonin and parathyroid hormone content in children with diffuse toxic goiter and hypothyroidism].

Radioimmunoassay was used to study the blood thyrocalcitonin (TCT) and parathyroid hormone (PH) content in children with diffuse toxic goitre and hypothyrosis. The blood plasma TCT content was determined in 20 children with thyrotoxicosis and in 28 subjects with hypothyrosis. PH content was examined correspondingly in 18 and 20 patients.
