Background: Percutaneous cholecystostomy (PC) can be used to treat patients with acute calculous cholecystitis (ACC) who are considered to be unfit for surgery. However, this procedure has been insufficiently investigated. This paper presents the results of a 10-year experience with this treatment modality.

A 77-year-old man was seen at the emergency care unit, as biopsies from an umbilical mass showed adenocarcinomatic metastasis, originating from an upper gastrointestinal cancer. CT and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography raised the suspicion of a Klatskin tumour and furthermore showed a 2.5 cm tumour in the pancreas.
