Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate how the combination of HALP score and TTCR score influences overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in prostate cancer patients who developed castration resistance.
  • A total of 152 metastatic prostate cancer patients were analyzed, categorized based on median cut-off values for HALP (30.83 months) and TTCR (16.1 months), resulting in three risk stratification groups.
  • The findings indicated that lower HALP scores and shorter TTCR were linked to significantly worse PFS, and that combining these factors improved predictions for OS and PFS in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC).

Background/aims: Treatment of perihilar cholangiocarcinoma (PHCC) and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (IHCC) is a challenging issue. We aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics of both tumors and the outcome of our treatment policy.

Material And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data of 117 patients who were diagnosed with PHCC or IHCC between January 2007 and September 2023.

Mulibrey Nanism is a rare genetic disorder characterized by a variety of systemic manifestations, including cardiac involvement. We report the case of a 26-year-old male who underwent partial pericardiectomy for constrictive pericarditis at age 4 and presented to our cardiology clinic with heart failure symptoms. Examination revealed dysmorphic features characteristic of Mulibrey Nanism such as short stature, macrocephaly, and hypertelorism.

Background: Breast cancer has been a disease in which treatment strategy has changed over time under the influence of different hypotheses and evidence for more than a century. We analyzed the contribution of radiotherapy to disease-free survival and overall survival by classifying according to stage, 1-3 lymph node involvement, and molecular subgroups.

Methods: Following the approval of the Institutional Review Board, records of patients with breast cancer who were admitted to University School of Medicine Departments of Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology between July 1999 and December 2020 were reviewed.

Introduction: There is a lack of studies in the literature directly investigating the relationship between atrial tachycardia (AT) and left atrial (LA)/left atrial appendage (LAA) thrombus, and current guidelines do not provide strong recommendations regarding the use of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) before AT catheter ablation. This study aims to elucidate the relationship between AT and the presence of LA/LAA thrombus and contribute to the literature on the use of TEE before AT catheter ablation.

Methods: This single-center retrospective observational study screened patients who underwent TEE between February 10, 2019, and February 10, 2023.

The aim of our study was to evaluate the incidence of KRAS/NRAS and BRAF mutations, analyze molecular patterns, and investigate associations with clinical parameters of these mutations in CRC KRAS/NRAS and BRAF mutations analyzed by next-generation sequencing. The detection rates of these mutations and patients' demographics were recorded and the relationship between them was evaluated using the chi-square test. KRAS mutation was detected in 332 of 694 patients, while the mutation rates in KRAS exons 2/3 and 4 were 39.

Purpose: The literature contains different information about the prognosis of invasive lobular carcinoma of breast cancer (BC). We aimed to address the inconsistency by comparatively examining the clinical features and prognosis of invasive lobular carcinoma patients in our university and to report our experience by dividing our patients into various subgroups.

Patients And Methods: Records of patients with BC admitted to Trakya University School of Medicine Department of Oncology between July 1999 and December 2021 were reviewed.

Para-Hisian pacing (PHP) is among the most useful maneuvers in cardiac electrophysiology during sinus rhythm and identifies whether retrograde conduction is dependent on the atrioventricular (AV) node. In this maneuver, the retrograde activation time and pattern are compared during capture and loss of capture of the His bundle while pacing from a para-Hisian position. A common misconception about PHP is that it is useful only for septal accessory pathways (APs).
