Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the rational effects of packing, which has seen reduced use after the introduction of fixators that perform the stabilization function-on rectum, bladder, and A point doses when used in conjunction with fixators.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on inoperable-cervical-cancer patients who underwent brachytherapy with tandem and ovoid at Kocaeli University Hospital between January 2023 and May 2024. Patients received external beam radiotherapy (EBRT), followed by high-dose-rate brachytherapy with either standard or packed plans.
Introduction: Myocarditis represents a diverse group of inflammatory diseases affecting the heart muscle, with both infectious and non-infectious etiologies. Among the non-infectious causes, drug-induced hypersensitivity reactions are rare but serious. Isoniazid, a cornerstone in tuberculosis treatment, is known for its hepatotoxicity but has rarely been documented to cause hypersensitivity myocarditis.

Methods: A retrospective chart review was conducted for pediatric patients diagnosed with enterovirus cerebellitis between 2000 and 2024.
Aims: The aim of this study is to investigate the diagnostic performances of Ultrasonography (US), Shear-wave Elastography (SWE), and Superb Microvascular Imaging (SMI) findings in the diagnosis of malignant thyroid nodules (MTNs) and to determine the US algorithm with the best diagnostic performance.
Material And Methods: Eighty-one nodules in 77 patients who had underwent multimodal US with biopsy results, were evaluated. Echogenicity, nodule components, contours, presence and type of calcification, and size were analyzed with US.
Objective: The objectives of this study were to determine the musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions associated with pediatric psoriasis (Pso) and to evaluate the thickness of Achilles tendon of children with Pso and healthy controls (HCs).
Methods: Pso patients who were followed-up in dermatology outpatient clinic were referred to a pediatric rheumatology center. All patients and healthy peers were evaluated with standardized forms.

Increased intestinal permeability (IIP) precedes several autoimmune disorders. Although Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT) is the most common autoimmune disorder, the role of IIP in its pathogenesis had received little attention. Zonulin plays a critical role in IIP by modulating intracellular tight junctions.

Materials And Methods: In this retrospective study, pregnancies with a birth weight below the 10th percentile, born between 24 and 34 gestational weeks with serial Doppler measurements in combination with a computerized CTG (cCTG) with calculated STV were included. Longitudinal changes of both Doppler indices and STV values were evaluated with generalized additive models, adjusted for gestational age and the individual.
Objective To investigate the relationship between brain masculinization and retinal thickness in children with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). Methods Forty-five patients with CAH aged between 4 and 18 years and 30 age-matched healthy controls were included in this prospective study. Macular area was examined with optical coherence tomography (OCT); central subfield thickness (CST), cube volume (CV) and macular retinal thickness (MT) were measured in each subject.

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common chronic systemic diseases seen in children. The increasing prevalence of Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) among children is alarming. Although olfaction has been found to be altered in some adult T1DM subjects, it is unknown whether this is the case in children and, if so, whether the dysfunction adversely influences their quality of life (QOL).

Methods: Patients who had undergone resection for deeply infiltrating endometriosis without anterior rectal resection between 2001 and 2011 were included (n = 134). Clinical and surgical data, as well as minor and major complications, were recorded.

Introduction: There are only a few studies regarding the prevalence of atopy in Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) patients, and their results are conflicting.
Methods: In this study children with the diagnosis of FMF were evaluated for the presence of atopy by comparing with controls. One hundred and eighteen children diagnosed as FMF and 50 healthy age and sex matched controls were enrolled.
Purpose: The aim of the present study was to analyze major and minor complications-including long-term impairment of intestinal, bladder, and sexual function-following surgery for deeply infiltrating endometriosis using anterior rectal resection.
Methods: Patients who had undergone anterior rectal resection due to endometriosis between 2001 and 2011 were included (n = 113). Clinical and surgical data, as well as minor and major complications, were recorded.
Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate risk factors affecting graft and patient survival after transplantation from deceased donors.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the outcomes of 186 transplantations from deceased donors performed at our center between 2006 and 2014. The recipients were divided into two groups: Group I (141 recipients without graft loss) and Group II (45 recipients with graft loss).
Background: The study aims to define the efficacy of continuous renal replacement therapy in acute metabolic decompensation treatment of maple syrup urine disease (MSUD).
Methods: All the neonates, infants and children who have had life threatening conditions due to MSUD and were treated with continuous venovenous hemodiafiltration (CVVHDF) were analyzed retrospectively.
Results: Fourteen patients underwent 15 sessions of CVVHDF (age range 15 days to 87 months, mean 40.
Objective: The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between the Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) score and hepatic arterial hemodynamic parameters measured via Doppler US.
Patients And Methods: Etiologic causes and hepatic artery hemodynamic parameters of 121 patients with chronic liver parenchymal disease were compared with MELD scores. Doppler ultrasonography (US) was used to assess flow velocity, pulsatility index (PI) and resistance index (RI) in the hepatic artery (HA).
Background/aim: To determine the effect of marginal donor livers on mortality and graft survival in liver transplantation (LT) recipients.
Materials And Methods: Donors with any 1 of following were considered marginal donors: age ≥65 years, sodium level ≥ 165 mmol/L and cold ischemia time ≥ 12 h. Donors were classified according to the donor risk index (DRI) < 1.
Purpose: To investigate the effect of various degrees of fatty liver infiltration on hepatic hemodynamics using Doppler ultrasonography.
Methods: We included 40 patients with hepatic steatosis and 20 healthy volunteers. Hepatic steatosis was quantified by a chemical shift MRI.
Published reports demonstrate improved myocardial reperfusion with adjunctive thrombus aspiration in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). However, implementation of this procedure without angioplasty or stent implantation is not clear. In this report, we present an octogenarian with inferior STEMI who was treated with thrombus aspiration alone.

Activation of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) is associated with atrial fibrillation (AF). The aim of this study was to investigate the relation between AF and polymorphisms in RAS. One hundred and fifty patients with AF, 100 patients with no documented episode of AF and 100 healthy subjects were consecutively recruited into the study.

The authors report a 9-year-old boy presenting with a left cerebral ischemic infarction as the first manifestation of acute promyelocytic leukemia. During consolidation chemotherapy, the patient developed nephrotic syndrome and a renal biopsy revealed focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Remission in bone marrow was achieved with chemotherapy, however, new intracranial ischemic areas developed on follow-up.

Methods: A total of 2370 18F-FDG-PET/CT studies performed over a 16-month period in patients with various malignant diseases were retrospectively reviewed. Unexpected PET foci that were in an unusual site for metastatic spread of known malignancy and not considered to be physiologic uptake were evaluated by histopathologic findings or follow-up with correlative imaging methods for a period of 1 year or longer.
