Herein, we report the creation of a novel sensitive electrochemical sensing platform based on a copper and exfoliated graphene oxide (Cu-eGO) nanocomposite using a facile synthesis technique, which simultaneously removes the sodium ions that result from the exfoliation process to generate eGO from graphite. This novel Cu-eGO nanocomposite was characterized via SEM, EDX, Raman and XPS. The Cu-eGO/GCE exhibited much greater activity for the electrochemical oxidation of methimazole than the eGO/GCE or bare GCE.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAtomically dispersed single-atom catalysts have recently attracted broad research interest due to their high atom efficiency and unique catalytic performance. In this study, atomic dispersion of cobalt is achieved using a chemical bath deposition method on a highly stable alkali titanate film (Ti/KTiO). These films were characterized using a variety of techniques, with atomic dispersion confirmed via grazing incidence X-ray absorption spectroscopy and ab initio modeling of single-atom systems.

Previous studies have shown that providers of all levels have expressed interest in additional education with ECGs. Asynchronous learning has been shown to be beneficial for improving residents' ability to recognize findings of acute myocardial ischemia.

Parental involvement appears crucial to combat the unhealthy lifestyle of preschoolers. Because of the recognized barriers to traditional face-to-face interventions, easy access and lower costs make electronic health (eHealth) interventions appealing.

Aberrant miRNA expression is associated with numerous diseases, including cancer. miRNA biogenesis is licenced by the ribonuclease (RNase) III enzyme Drosha, the regulation of which is critical in determining miRNA levels.

Current treatment of rabies consists of post-exposure prophylaxis treatment involving a complicated vaccination regimen. Studies conducted in other countries have found that patients do not complete their rabies vaccination treatment due to forgetting about their treatment, lack of time for visits, and the financial burden of treatment.

However, the tissue mineralization in individual trabeculae of different trabecular types and orientations has not yet been investigated. The aim of this study was to develop an individual trabecula mineralization (ITM) analysis technique to determine tissue mineral density (TMD) distributions in plate- and rod-like trabeculae, respectively, and to compare the TMD of trabeculae along various orientations in micro-computed tomography (μCT) images of trabecular bone samples from the femoral neck, greater trochanter, and proximal tibia.

We developed a facile route toward amphiphilic hybrid molecular brushes (HMB) with chitosan backbone and concurrently grafted chains of poly(acrylamide) and polystyrene. The grafting occurs through amino groups of chitosan; no extra modification of chitosan is required. The kinetic and molecular weight characteristics of the primary molecular brush CHI-graft-PAAm are studied.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA new fracture assessment approach that combines HR-pQCT imaging with fracture mechanics-based finite element modeling was developed to evaluate distal radius fracture load. Twenty distal radius images obtained from postmenopausal women (fracture, n=10; nonfracture, n=10) were processed to obtain a cortical and a whole bone model for each subject. The geometrical properties of each model were evaluated and the corresponding fracture load was determined under realistic fall conditions using cohesive finite element modeling.

Experimental Design: We first examined PDGF-D expression in human breast carcinomas by immunohistochemical (IHC) staining.
Purpose: Ovarian cancer patients with malignant ascites have poor prognosis. The accumulation of ascites is caused by an imbalance between fluid extravasation from the blood vessels and reabsorption by lymphatic vessels. Whereas, the role of TGF-β in tumor progression has been well studied, the role of TGF-β in lymphatic vessel function is far from understood.
