We investigated whether being in temporary employment, as compared with permanent employment, was associated with a difference in Short Form 36 mental health and whether transitions from permanent employment to temporary employment were associated with mental health changes. We used fixed-effects regression in a nationally representative Australian sample with 10 waves of data collection (2001-2010). Interactions by age and sex were tested.

Objective: To update trends in mortality by ethnic group from the New Zealand Census-Mortality Study (NZCMS), by additionally linking 2004-06 mortality records to the 2001 Census. To investigate possible bias from this extended linkage, especially for Pacific and Asian people who emigrate more frequently.

Methods: Anonymous and probabilistic record linkage of 2004-06 mortality records with the 2001 Census was undertaken.

Background: This research aimed to estimate the prevalence and population attributable risk percent (PAR%) of hepatitis B (HBV) and C (HCV) infection among chronic liver disease (CLD) deaths in New Zealand. The PAR% is the percentage of CLD cases attributable to either HBV or HCV. Within New Zealand, there are large differences in HBV prevalence by ethnic group, so prevalence and PAR% estimates were made separately for the three major ethnic groups.

We examined the association of income inequality measured at the metropolitan area (MA) and county levels with individual self-rated health. Individual-level data were drawn from 259,762 respondents to the March Current Population Survey in 1996 and 1998. Income inequality and average income were calculated from 1990 census data, the former using Gini coefficients.
