As an invasive alien animal, Pomacea canaliculata poses a great danger to the ecology and human beings. Recently, there has been a gradual shift towards bio-friendly control. Based on the development of RNA interference and CRISPR technology as molecular regulatory techniques for pest control, it was determined if the knockout of genes related to sex differentiation in P.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic, potentially fatal systemic autoimmune disease characterized by the production of autoantibodies against a wide range of self-antigens. To investigate the role of the 5-hmC DNA modification with regard to the onset of SLE, we compared the levels 5-hmC between SLE patients and normal controls. Whole blood was obtained from patients, and genomic DNA was extracted.

Article Synopsis
  • The treatment of uremia mainly relies on dialysis, but existing methods yield unsatisfactory outcomes, prompting the investigation of new biomarkers.* -
  • Researchers focused on the role of DNA 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5-hmC) by comparing its levels in uremic patients versus healthy controls, using modern genomic techniques.* -
  • The study identified significant differences in 5-hmC levels across many genes in uremia patients, suggesting potential for 5-hmC as a biomarker or therapeutic target in treating uremia.*

Background: Mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis (MePGN) is characterized by excessive mesangial cell proliferation and mesangial matrix expansion, which lead to glomerular sclerosis and obliteration and, in turn, to deteriorating renal function. To identify and quantify the total proteins in renal tissues of MePGN patients, we used isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantification (iTRAQ) technology, and then looked for differentially expressed proteome profiles in MePGN patients.

Methods: Eight-plex iTRAQ coupled with multiple chromatographic fractionation and tandem mass spectrometry was used to analyze total proteins in renal tissues of MePGN patients.
