Gastric cancer is a kind of malignant tumor that seriously endangers human life and health. Its incidence rate and mortality rate are among the highest in the global malignant tumors. Therefore, this study explored the role of 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-bisphosphatase 3 (PFKFB3) in the progression of gastric cancer and its underlying mechanism.

Introduction And Importance: A malignant gastrointestinal neuroectodermal tumor (GNET) is an extremely rare primary malignant mesenchymal tumor of the gastrointestinal tract characterized by EWSR1 gene rearrangement. An optimal systemic treatment strategy for advanced/recurrent GNET has not yet been identified.

Case Presentation: A 24-year-old male patient was hospitalized with abdominal pain and underwent two operations for a tumor in his small intestine.

Article Synopsis
  • Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS) is a rare and aggressive soft tissue tumor primarily affecting areas like the extremities and retroperitoneum, and it's typically treated through surgical removal.
  • The standard first-line chemotherapy for advanced soft tissue sarcomas (STS), including UPS, is doxorubicin monotherapy, but it often doesn't lead to good long-term outcomes.
  • In a case study, a middle-aged man with primary mediastinal UPS and high PD-L1 expression showed partial remission after receiving tislelizumab, an immune checkpoint inhibitor, suggesting some potential for this treatment despite limited existing evidence.

Background: Lung cancer is one of the deadliest cancers in the world with the highest incidence and mortality rate among all cancers. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for approximately 80% of primary lung cancer. However, efficacy and safety of the current regimens for NSCLC is unsatisfactory.

Background: Cytokeratin 19 fragment 21-1 (CYFRA21-1) and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) are effective prognostic biomarkers for lung cancer. This study investigated the predictive effects of change rates of CYFRA21-1 and CEA before and after the first cycles of chemotherapy on advanced IIIb/IIIc or IV stage non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients.

Methods: Data of 103 NSCLC patients who received chemotherapy in Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital from February 2018 to November 2020 were retrospectively analyzed.

Artesunate (ART) is a prominent anti-malarial with significant anti-cancer properties. Our previous studies showed that ART enhances lysosomal function and ferritin degradation, which was necessary for its anti-cancer properties. ART targeting to mitochondria also significantly improved its efficacy, but the effect of ART on mitophagy, an important cellular pathway that facilitates the removal of damaged mitochondria, remains unknown.

Histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACIs) cause oncogene‑transformed mammalian cell death. Our previous study indicated that HDACIs activate forkhead box O1 (FOXO1) and induce autophagy in liver and colon cancer cells. However, whether FOXO1 is involved in HDACI‑mediated oncogene‑transformed mammalian cell death remains unclear.

Background And Aim: ZW10 interacting kinetochore protein 1 (Zwint-1), one of the major kinetochore proteins, is essential for kinetochore function, such as spindle assembly checkpoint function and kinetochore-microtubule attachment. Recently, it has been found over-expressed in some human cancers, including ovarian cancer, bladder cancer, and pulmonary adenocarcinoma. However, few studies of the expression of Zwint-1 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been reported.

Lupus anticoagulants is related to both recurrent thrombosis and cancer. Thrombotic complications occur more frequently in patients with lung cancer. The aim of this study is to investigate the association of lupus anticoagulants with hypercoagulability and thrombotic complications, as well as prognostic significance of lupus anticoagulants for patients with lung cancer.

Serum cytokeratin 19 fragment (CYFRA21-1) has been found to be a useful prognostic marker in lung cancer. Previous studies have revealed that change in CYFRA21-1 synchronously predicted therapeutic effectiveness in advanced nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) after the second cycle of chemotherapy. The objective of this study was to investigate the early predictive value of percentage change in serum CYFRA21-1 from pretreatment to completion of the first cycle of chemotherapy for chemotherapeutic effectiveness in advanced NSCLC patients.
