The weight of live pigs is directly related to their health, nutrition management, disease prevention and control, and the overall economic benefits to livestock enterprises. Direct weighing can induce stress responses in pigs, leading to decreased productivity. Therefore, modern livestock industries are increasingly turning to non-contact techniques for estimating pig weight, such as automated monitoring systems based on computer vision.

Recent advancements in electromechanical coupling effects enable electromechanical materials in soft and stretchable formats, offering unique opportunities for biomimetic applications. However, high electromechanical performance and mechanical elasticity hardly coexist in soft materials. Flexoelectricity, an electromechanical coupling between strain gradient and electric polarization, possesses great potential of strain gradient engineering and material design in soft elastomeric materials.

Tilt-positioning mechanisms are required in optical systems for diverse applications. Compared to electromagnetic tilt-positioning mechanisms, piezoelectric tilters are superior with regard to high positioning resolution, cost-effectiveness, and no electromagnetic interference issues. But their applications are limited by small motion ranges.
