Extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKL) primarily involves the nasal cavity. Although patients might visit an otorhinolaryngologist with nasal symptoms, such as nasal obstruction and epistaxis, it would be difficult to make a diagnosis correctly. We present a case of ENKL in which the patient had been in remission after initial treatment and relapsed 14 years after treatment.

Article Synopsis
  • This study tracked the movements of 20 wild Japanese eels and 12 cultured eels in a lagoon in northeastern Japan using acoustic telemetry to understand their habitat use in different environments.
  • 40% of wild eels remained near their release point for overwintering, while others showed varying degrees of movement between the lagoon and surrounding areas, which demonstrated behavioral flexibility.
  • The study revealed key differences between wild and cultured eels, such as longer residency times and specific seasonal movements for wild eels, highlighting the importance of habitat connectivity among rivers, estuaries, and marine environments.

The red-eared slider (Trachemys scripta) is an invasive turtle species that is displacing the populations of native freshwater turtles in many countries. However, the mechanism that makes red-eared sliders superior competitors has been less well studied. In this study, we compare the feeding kinematics of the red-eared slider with those of Reeves' pond turtle (Mauremys reevesii), a turtle native to East Asia, and offer an explanation as to why red-eared sliders are superior in food competition.
