[Change of lower urinary tract symptoms during pregnancy and after delivery--investigations using IPSS/QOL and Urinary Incontinence Questionnaires].

Using International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS)/Quality of life (QOL) and Urinary Incontinence Questionnaires, we collected a total of 89 questionnaires from 48 pregnant women (average age of 31.4 +/- 3.42) and data 4 times during each pregnancy (during the 14th, 26th and 36th weeks of pregnancy) and 1 month after delivery.

Micropapillary urothelial carcinoma of the renal pelvis: report of a case and review of the literature.

Background: Micropapillary urothelial carcinoma (MPUC) is a rare variant of urothelial carcinoma (UC), which is often advanced at presentation, and carries poor prognosis. Majority of the reported cases of MPUC originate from the urinary bladder. Of over 190 MPUC cases reported in the English literature, 35 cases were of the upper urinary tract.

The expression of thymidine phosphorylase is a prognostic predictor for the intravesical recurrence of superficial bladder cancer.

Background: Thymidine phosphorylase (TP), also known as platelet-derived endothelial cell growth factor, has been implicated in the angiogenesis of bladder cancer. The aim of this study is to investigate the association between TP expression and the clinicopathologic findings, and the prognostic value.

Methods: TP immunohistochemical staining was performed in specimens from 71 patients (50 men and 21 women) with superficial bladder cancer (pTa or pT1).

Unilateral renal hypoplasia associated with bicuspid aortic valve.

A 20-year-old man with congestive heart failure (CHF) and hypertension (HT) was admitted to hospital. Ultrasonic echocardiography showed that he had aortic stenosis caused by a bicuspid aortic valve. The plasma renin concentration was slightly elevated, and enhanced magnetic resonance imaging and renography revealed a hypoplastic kidney that had almost lost its normal function.
