Purpose: Worsening sagittal alignment of the spine, particularly kyphosis, may cause difficulty in assuming a supine position, restricting sleeping posture and movement and potentially leading to sleep disturbances. However, no studies have explored the relationship between sagittal spinal alignment and sleep disturbance. This study aimed to clarify the relationship between sagittal spinal alignment and sleep disturbance.

Effective monitoring can lead to increased economic viability of any equipment, as it may reduce costly repairs, decrease downtime, and increase safety. Knowing the behaviour of a machine promotes better monitoring of its operation and maintenance.

A total of 89 patients (52 A-BED, 37 AFESS) who underwent either procedure between September 2020 and April 2024 were included in the study. While arthroscopic scopes have traditionally been used in biportal surgeries, the monoportal scope offers the advantage of self-contained fluid management, allowing for more efficient irrigation.

The shoot branching involves two main processes: axillary meristem formation and subsequent bud outgrowth. While considerable progress has been made in elucidating the genetic mechanisms underlying the latter process, our understanding of the former process remains limited.

On the other hand, spontaneous remission/regression (SR) is reported in various cancers including aggressive tumors like ALL. Infection or trauma-mediated immune system activation is assumed to cause SR, with the duration in cases of ALL typically being short.

Lumbar ligamentous flavum hematoma (LFH) is a relatively rare pathology, and it is difficult to differentiate it from other cystic lesions. Full-endoscopic spine surgery (FESS), an excellent approach for clear and magnified operative visual field since it allows saline irrigation and minimizes destruction of surrounding tissues, has been applied to the treatment. This study aims to present a case series of patients with lumbar LFH treated by FESS.

We retrospectively evaluated the pre-transplant peripheral blood CD4/CD8 ratio in 168 patients who underwent their first allo-HSCT for hematological malignancies at our institution. When patients were divided into two groups according to the median CD4/CD8 ratio 1.

However, the significance of abundant CD34 in bone marrow transplantation (BMT) remained unclear.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 207 consecutive adult patients who underwent their first BMT at Jichi Medical University between January 2009 and June 2021.
Burning mouth syndrome (BMS) is characterized by burning sensations in the oral region without corresponding abnormalities and is often accompanied by uncomfortable sensations. Herein, we present cases of BMS in which the remaining uncomfortable sensations improved with perospirone augmentation with clonazepam. Case 1: A 61-year-old man complained of a burning pain in his tongue, a sensation of dryness and discomfort as if his tongue was sticking to a palatal plate.

The purpose of this study is to describe a new surgical method to treat intracanal lumbar disc herniation (LDH) using the unilateral biportal endoscopic transforaminal approach (UBE-TFA). The first 15 patients who had undergone UBELD for single-level LDH were included in this study.

Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is a common type of dementia and generally presents visual hallucination and parkinsonism as motor dysfunction besides cognitive decline. In this case report, we present a case in which DLB emerged during the treatment for BMS, with a relatively positive outcome for BMS.

Root hairs play vital roles in plant growth since they enable the efficient absorption of water and nutrients from the soil. Recent advances in research have provided a deeper understanding of the molecular genetic mechanisms underlying root hair differentiation. () and its four homologs, which belong to the gene family and encode R3 MYB transcription factors, play central roles in root hair differentiation.

Oral psychosomatic disorders do not fit the definition of psychosomatic diseases in internal medicine. To ensure appropriate dental treatment, it is important for general dentists to distinguish between oral psychosomatic disorders and psychosomatic diseases.

This study assessed the comparative efficacy of a poly(l-lactic-caprolactone) [P(LA/CL)] membrane versus that of a collagen membrane in GBR. Patients requiring GBR simultaneously or before dental implant placement in edentulous regions were randomly assigned to one of two membranes.

Methods: We examined whether the time-point at which the number of lymphocytes exceeded the number of monocytes, which we termed lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio reversal (LMRR), affected the prognosis after allo-HSCT. We retrospectively evaluated 235 patients who underwent their first allo-HSCT at our institution.

Aim: Dysphagia is a problem typically associated with aging. The aim was to investigate the relationship between dysphagia and motor function using a simple assessment method that can be performed in the community setting, and to promote the early detection and prevention of dysphagia.
Methods: Data from the Locomotive Syndrome and Health Outcome in Aizu Cohort Study (LOHAS) were used.
Background: Few epidemiological studies have evaluated associations between lumbar facet joint (LFJ) osteoarthritis (OA) and comorbidities. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of LFJ OA in a Japanese community population and associations between LFJ OA and underlying diseases, including lower extremity OA.
Methods: This epidemiological cross-sectional study evaluated LFJ OA in 225 Japanese community residents (81 males, 144 females; median age, 66 years) using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Case: Rod fracture (RF) occurred at L5-S level in a 79-year-old woman 7 months after spinal corrective surgery for adult spinal deformity (ASD). Four years after the surgery, pyogenic spondylitis occurred at the same level as RF. After the reinforcement of broken rods posteriorly, a transperitoneal approach was used for debridement and bone graft.

While it has recently been pointed out that it could accompany the autism spectrum disorder (ASD), no interventions targeting this bias in adolescents with ASD have been reported. Therefore, this exploratory study investigated the effects of a group social cognition program on JTC bias in adolescents with ASD.

This study investigated the relationship between low back pain and limited range of motion of the hip and knee in young baseball players during the baseball season.
Results: Participants comprised 1215 baseball players (216 pitchers, 999 fielders) aged 6-16 years who underwent medical checkups (self-completed questionnaire and physical examination).
