The article presents research results on the possibility of shaping the structure and properties of Co-Cr-W-C-Ti alloys (type Stellite 6) using laser cladding technology. Cobalt-based alloys are used in several industries because they are characterized by high erosion, abrasion, and corrosion resistance, retaining these properties at high temperatures. To further increase erosion resistance, it seems appropriate to reinforce material by in situ synthesis of hard phases.

This article presents production results concerning metal matrix composite-coatings made using the laser-cladding technology. The enhancement of the wear resistance of the material surface is the one of the main goals accompanying the manufacturing of composite coatings. Nickel-based superalloys are used in several industries because they are characterized by a number of desirable properties including high tensile and fatigue strength as well as resistance to high-temperature corrosion in aggressive environments.

The article presents research in the field of laser cladding of metal-matrix composite (MMC) coatings. Nickel-based superalloys show attractive properties including high tensile strength, fatigue resistance, high-temperature corrosion resistance and toughness, which makes them widely used in the industry. Due to the insufficient wear resistance of nickel-based superalloys, many scientists are investigating the possibility of producing nickel-based superalloys matrix composites.
