Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) offers a solution, especially for high-risk aortic stenosis (AS) patients. However, patient outcomes post-TAVR show variability, highlighting the need for reliable prognostic indicators. Brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV), a measure of arterial stiffness, may predict outcomes post-TAVR.

Escalating climate extreme events disrupt hydrological processes by affecting both water availability and sediment dynamics. However, the interconnection between hydrological variability and climatic extremes remains underexplored, particularly in cold regions under a changing climate. Here, we develop a yield-based dichotomy framework to examine the impact of shifted climatic extreme patterns on hydrological regimes in the Ishikari River Basin (IRB), Hokkaido, Japan, which is a crucial area for local agriculture and urban development.

The objective is to identify motivating and hindering factors related to student pharmacist membership in professional pharmacy organizations.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was sent to the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Student Services Personnel community members for distribution to student pharmacists at their respective schools.
The main characteristic of selective mutism (SM) is the failure to speak in specific social situations. Thus, assessing speech across social contexts is important for confirming a diagnosis of SM and for differentiating it from other disorders. The purpose of this review was to organize how the core symptom of SM, a lack of speech in specific social situations, has been assessed in previous studies.

Based on the category-wise indicator method, two preferred Global Climate Models (GCMs) for the Ishikari River basin (IRB), the socio-economic center of Hokkaido, Japan, were examined from the newly released Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6). Climatic variables (maximum/minimum temperature and precipitation) were projected by the Statistical DownScaling Model (SDSM) under all shared socioeconomic pathway-representative concentration pathway (SSP-RCP) scenarios (SSP1-1.

We investigated the factors associated with the withdrawal or withholding of life-sustaining treatment (WLST) for severe traumatic brain injury at a single Japanese institution.
Methods: A total of 161 patients with severe traumatic brain injury were retrospectively reviewed.
Background: Treatment with low-dose prasugrel might be more beneficial even in chronic stable coronary artery disease (CAD) patients treated with clopidogrel. We compared platelet reactivity between standard maintenance-dose and low-dose prasugrel in stable CAD patients.
Methods: This multicenter study enrolled 164 stable CAD patients receiving dual antiplatelet therapy with aspirin and clopidogrel.
There are few reports on the current awareness and status of venous ultrasonography, including the number of specialists who perform this procedure, in a specific regional area in Japan. This cross-sectional survey study was conducted in Kumamoto Prefecture from October 2018 to March 2019. Of the 366 medical institutions providing cardiology services in Kumamoto Prefecture, 259 (101 general hospitals, 158 small clinics) responded to our questionnaire.

The aim of our study was to explore whether the traumatic variables of head injury predict the need for tracheostomy in intubated TBI patients.
Methods: A single-center, retrospective observational study including a series of TBI patients admitted to Fukui Prefectural Hospital from April 1, 2004 to March 31, 2020 was carried out.
There are few reports on current awareness and status of transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), including the actual performance rate according to echocardiographic guidelines, in a specific area or region. This cross-sectional survey study was conducted in Kumamoto Prefecture from October 2018 to March 2019. There are 366 medical institutions advocating cardiology in Kumamoto Prefecture.

The practice of early revascularization by percutaneous coronary intervention, and advances in pharmacotherapy have reduced the rate of complications of CS. However, when CS is combined with AMI, mortality from AMI is still high, and many clinicians are wondering how to treat CS with AMI.

We performed balloon aortic valvuloplasty (BAV) as a bridge to transcatheter aortic valve replacement using transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) by the retrograde approach. Balloon dilatation was carefully performed using an 18 mm balloon.

Methods and results: ABIs of 23,673 individuals were measured in 1-day health checkups between 2003 and 2010. Among them, 1,117 participants aged 28-76 years (mean 53±9 years) whose ABI was measured at least twice within an interval of ≥4 years (mean: 4.

We have used crop-level yields, modeled heterotrophic respiration (Rh) and land use data to estimate spatio-temporal changes in regional scale net primary productivity (NPP), plant C inputs, and net biome productivity (NBP) in northern Japan's arable croplands and grasslands for the period of 1959-2011. We compared the changes in C stocks derived from estimated NBP and using repeated inventory datasets for each individual land use type from 2005 to 2011.

However, few examples have been definitively identified, perhaps because data of sufficient depth and breadth were difficult to obtain before the advent of affordable high-density genotyping. Throughout Japan, tetraploid Miscanthus sacchariflorus and diploid Miscanthus sinensis are common, and occasionally hybridize.

Many miniaturized mass spectrometers used for on-site analysis have been designed and developed recently utilizing a broad range of analyzer platforms. These instruments are expected to have widespread applications covering many fields of interest. In our laboratory, a miniaturized multi-turn time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometer "MULTUM-S II" was designed and constructed.

In the Aso mountain region of Southern Japan, seminatural grasslands have been maintained by annual harvests and/or burning for more than 1000 years. Quantification of soil C stocks and C sequestration rates in Aso mountain ecosystem is needed to make well-informed, land-use decisions to maximize C sinks while minimizing C emissions.

The title compound, C28H52Si8, was synthesized by condensation of two mol-ecules of 1,2,3,4-tetra-kis-(chloro-dimethyl-sil-yl)benzene with lithium. The 3,4-disila-1,2-benzocyclo-butene rings in the centrosymmetric molecule are bridged by 1,1,2,2-tetra-methyl-disilanylene chains with an anti conformation. The benzene rings are deformed by fusion with a 3,4-disilacyclo-butene ring resulting in a slight boat conformation.
