The safety of corticosteroid injection prior to shoulder arthroplasty: A systematic review.

Introduction: Intra-articular corticosteroid injections are frequently utilised in patients with glenohumeral arthritis for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. A systematic review was performed to assess the relationship between prior corticosteroid injection and infection following shoulder arthroplasty.

Methods: A search was performed, using databases Medline, EMBASE and CINAHL.

Introduction: The use of arthroscopy to alleviate the symptoms of osteoarthritis has been questioned by recent high quality evidence. This has led to the development of guidelines by specialist and national bodies advocating against its use.

Aims: To examine the trends of the rates of arthroscopy in patients with knee osteoarthritis over the past five years and determining compliance with guidelines.
