Background: The aim of the study was to investigate the levels of S-nitrosothiols (RSNO) in blood serum of children with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), nonspecific ulcerative colitis (NUC) and Crohn's disease (CD), and correlate the obtained data with the number of total nitric oxide metabolites (NOx) and proinflammatory cytokines (PC).
Methods: RSNO and NOx were determined by the Griess method and PC by ELISA. We examined 174 children of both genders aged from 6 to 17 years (mean age - 14 years) including 112 children suffering from IBD and 62 children from the control group.

This paper reports basic features of the (137)Cs uptake by forest-derived products in the Gomel region. Even with the soil contamination density of 37 kBq m(-2) the radionuclide contents in 20-30% of mushrooms and berries were found to be higher than the admissible levels. The (137)Cs contamination density of soil, site type and meteorological parameters were observed as the major factors which govern the radiocaesium uptake by mushrooms and berries.

This study uses information on multiple informal care-givers and examines how characteristics of the informal care-giving network affect the adult child's care-giver burden. In 2007, 602 Dutch care-givers who were assisting their older parents reported on parental and personal characteristics, care activities, experienced burden and characteristics of other informal care-givers.

It was shown that "Polyen" has favourable effect on different metabolic pathways of lipid acids, that allow to recommend this preparation as additional component in food ration for training sportsmen.

At the same time the affinity of haemoglobin to oxygen stabilized in the sportsmen before and after intensive muscle load.

The examinees demonstrated lower activity of lysozyme and concentrations of IgA, higher levels of IgG. Immunologic features of saliva was proved to have extreme diagnostic importance, therefore could be used to detect early signs of exposure to occupational hazards and to diagnose pathologic conditions caused by those hazards.

These acids may be used in the lipid peroxidation processes, that is proved by the facts of POL products content and their drawing into oxidation reaction, which is certified by high level of ATP in erythrocytes. Reduction of quantity of polyunsaturated fatty acids of w3 family may be regarded as results of their insufficient arrival with food.

Differences in the contents of families 6 and 3 fatty acids were showed that depend on disease stage and tumour localization. omega 6/ omega 3 ratio increase in the early stages of tumour process was established for both pathologies.

The authors' investigations led them to the conclusion that skilled volleyball players' erythrocytes undergo adaptive metabolic rearrangement. There was also low hemoglobin affinity to oxygen. A single training load provoked the effect of metabolic enhancement as a result of increased red cell concentration of glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin and high activity of hexokinase.

Abnormal non-specific increase in albumin-bound lipids as well as in peroxidation products was found. Gas-liquid chromatography of different polynonsaturated fatty acids pointed to the enhancement of their metabolism via the omega 3 pathway.

The functional properties of serum albumin and hemoglobin were investigated in highly trained athletes. During adaptation to regular strenuous exercise, the metabolic pathway of omega 3 fatty acids intensified and the content of lipid peroxidation products in serum albumin increased. Also, hemoglobin affinity for molecular oxygen decreased and ATP concentration in red blood cells increased.

No significant differences were observed although the intensity of valent C-H fluctuation lines in alkyl groups of HSA was slightly increased in cancer patients. Gas-liquid chromatography established changes in the profile of polyunsaturated fatty acids binding to HSA in cancer patients.

Lipid composition and the ability of serum albumin to bind lipid components and products of their peroxidation were investigated in cyclists of different rating during moderate workloads. Ratios of subfractions of phospholipids and other lipid metabolites in blood serum albumin were determined by the method of thin-layer chromatography. Diene conjugates and diene ketones were found to be actively formed in plasma of highly trained cyclists in whom a high lipid capacity of albumin was associated with its low affinity for lipid hydroperoxides.
