Methods: We used functional magnetic resonance imaging during the performance of an emotional word encoding and recognition paradigm in patients with MDD (n = 51), comorbid MDD and anxiety (n = 59), panic disorder and/or social anxiety disorder without comorbid MDD (n = 56), and control subjects (n = 49). In addition, we studied effects of illness severity, regional brain volume, and antidepressant use.
Neuroticism and extraversion are personality factors associated with the vulnerability for developing depression and anxiety disorders, and are possibly differentially related to brain structures implicated in the processing of emotional information and the generation of mood states. To date, studies on brain morphology mainly focused on neuroticism, a dimension primarily related to negative affect, yielding conflicting findings concerning the association with personality, partially due to methodological issues and variable population samples under study. Recently, extraversion, a dimension primarily related to positive affect, has been repeatedly inversely related to with symptoms of depression and anxiety disorders.

Methods: This prospective multicentre study included 68 breast specimens of consecutive patients undergoing breast-conserving surgery for breast cancer in three affiliated hospitals between November 2010 to May 2011.
Aims: To evaluate if intra-operative guidance with ultrasonography (US) could improve surgical accuracy of palpable breast cancer excision, and to evaluate the performance of surgeons during training for US-guided excision.
Materials And Methods: Thirty female patients undergoing breast-conserving surgery for palpable T1-T2 invasive breast cancer were recruited. Three individual breast surgeons, assisted by US, targeted and excised the tumours.
Anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG), raised in rabbits, is frequently used in allogeneic hematopoietic SCT (HSCT), to prevent graft rejection and acute GVHD. In solid organ transplant patients, antibodies to rabbit IgG result in an enhanced clearance of ATG. The occurrence of such antibodies in HSCT recipients and their clinical impact is unknown.

Whether these infections occur through reactivation of endogenous virus or transmission via the graft remains a matter of debate.
Methods: In a cohort of 24 pediatric patients who received SCT, infections with 1 or more of 5 serotypes of HAdV (1, 2, 5, 6, and 31) were detected by culture.
Background: Depression has been associated with limbic hyperactivation and frontal hypoactivation in response to negative facial stimuli. Anxiety disorders have also been associated with increased activation of emotional structures such as the amygdala and insula. This study examined to what extent activation of brain regions involved in perception of emotional faces is specific to depression and anxiety disorders in a large community-based sample of out-patients.

Objective: Major depressive disorder (MDD) has been associated with executive dysfunction and related abnormal prefrontal activity, whereas the status of executive function (EF) in frequently co-occurring anxiety disorders and in comorbid depression-anxiety is unclear. We aimed to study functional MRI correlates of (visuospatial) planning in MDD and anxiety disorders and to test for the effects of their comorbidity.
Method: Functional MRI was employed during performance of a parametric Tower of London task in out-patients with MDD (n = 65), MDD with comorbid anxiety (n = 82) or anxiety disorders without MDD (n = 64), and controls (n = 63).
Artemis deficiency is known to result in classical T-B- severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) in case of Artemis null mutations, or Omenn's syndrome in case of hypomorphic mutations in the Artemis gene. We describe two unrelated patients with a relatively mild clinical T-B- SCID phenotype, caused by different homozygous Artemis splice-site mutations. The splice-site mutations concern either dysfunction of a 5' splice-site or an intronic point mutation creating a novel 3' splice-site, resulting in mutated Artemis protein with residual activity or low levels of wild type (WT) Artemis transcripts.

Aims: To evaluate the efficacy of three methods of breast-conserving surgery (BCS) for nonpalpable invasive breast cancer in obtaining adequate resection margins and volumes of resection.
Materials And Methods: A total of 201 consecutive patients undergoing BCS for nonpalpable invasive breast cancer between January 2006 and 2009 in four affiliated institutions was retrospectively analysed. Patients with pre-operatively diagnosed primary or associated ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), multifocal disease, or a history of breast surgery or neo-adjuvant treatment were excluded from the study.
In myasthenia gravis (MG), the neuromuscular transmission is impaired mainly by auto-antibodies against the acetylcholine receptor (AChR) or MuSK. In about 5% of the MG patients, however, the auto-antigen is still unknown. We investigated whether these idiopathic MG patients (iMG) have auto-antibodies against ErbB proteins, which influence the AChR density at the NMJ.
