A novel Ce(III) complex with the triazole ligand 2b, which presents four H-bonded sites with amino acids of the MMP-2 receptor, was synthesized. The experimental IR and Raman spectra of this Ce(III) complex were well-interpreted based on their comparison to the theoretical scaled spectra using the scaling equations determined by two procedures and four density functional theory (DFT) levels. Therefore, the structure predicted for the synthesized Ce(III) complex was clearly characterized and confirmed.

The 1,2,3-triazole derivative 2-(4-chlorophenyl)-5-(pyrrolidin-1-yl)-2-1,2,3-triazole-4-carboxylic acid with potential anticancer activity was used as a ligand in complex formation with the lanthanum(III) ion. Using a novel set of 12 microsatellites, a captive, adult female swellshark Cephaloscyllium ventriosum that produced five pups via parthenogenesis is described; naturally occurring parthenogenesis has been observed in every vertebrate class with the exception of mammals. As demonstrated in this study, a captive environment is ideal for long-term monitoring of animals under controlled conditions, and easily allows the detection of particular facets of their biology.

Background: The application of radiofrequency (RF) has been successfully used in the treatment of chronic pain conditions, including facet arthropathy, sacroiliac joint pain, groin pain, radicular pain, cervicogenic headaches, and phantom limb pain. Due to the neurodestructive effect of continuous RF ablation and possible deafferentation sequelae, only pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) has been applied to peripheral sensory nerves. There are no previous reports of successful PRF application to the sural nerve.

Experiments were carried out to examine the effects of protein tyrosine kinase (PTK) and protein tyrosine phosphatase inhibitors on the purinergic contraction of the guinea pig vas deferens. Sodium orthovanadate (SOV) produced a robust increase of the amplitude of contractions evoked by both neurogenic electrical field stimulation and exogenous ATP. This effect of SOV was concentration- and time-dependent, as well as, reversible and reproducible.
