Int J Oral Maxillofac Implants
December 2024
Purpose: To evaluate the clinical performance of implant-prosthetic rehabilitations carried out using ceramic-coated CAD/CAM titanium abutments.
Materials And Methods: Thirty implants were placed in 30 patients and rehabilitated with 30 single crowns attached to CAD/CAM titanium abutments. A conventional procedure was applied, implants were placed after postextraction socket healing, and prosthetic restorations were placed after implant healing.
The digital transformation has revolutionized various sectors, including dentistry. Dentistry has emerged as a pioneer in embracing digital technologies, leading to advancements in surgical and prosthetic oral healthcare. Immediate loading for full-arch edentulous dental implants, once debated, is now widely accepted.

Lumbar spinal stenosis with or without spondylolisthesis is a common cause of lower-limb pain in elderly patients. The surgical treatment of lumbar DDD consists of the decompression of the neural structures or the decompression and fusion of the involved motion segment.

This study assesses the clinical outcomes of single crowns and fixed partial prostheses supported by conometric connections after one year of follow-up.
Methods: Twenty-two patients received 70 implants, supporting 33 rehabilitations.
Purpose: To describe a fully digital workflow for an implant-supported fixed hybrid restoration that involves a double CAD/CAM structure and to highlight the benefits of this type of restoration.
Materials And Methods: Using a fully digital workflow, starting from intraoral scans, the necessary steps for producing the final hybrid prosthesis are described. The prosthesis consists of a titanium primary structure and a zirconia secondary structure that is cemented onto the primary structure in the laboratory.
Objective: complex rehabilitations present multiple difficulties, regarding both the planification of the surgery and the design of the prothesis. A digital approach can support the workflow, as well as the degree of intraoperative precision, and improve the long-term prognosis.
Methods: A surgical guide was designed for implant placement.
Introduction And Importance: The study aimed to present the long-term results of autologous and homologous micrografts for bone regeneration aimed at positioning dental implants after sinus lift augmentation surgeries, by combining autologous Rigenera® micrografts with poly(lactic-go-glycolic acid).
Case Presentation: A total of 5 patients (2 males and 3 females) from 36 to 71 years were involved in the observational study. All the patients showed a good health status system (ASA1 and 2), according to their clinical history with neither system diseases, nor under medication able to interfere with osseointegration.
Kleine-Levin syndrome (KLS) is a rare central disorder of daytime hypersomnolence and is often characterized by a relapsing and remitting course, recurrent episodes of excessive sleep lasting from 12 to 20 hours a day, and symptoms including hyperphagia, hallucinations, derealization, disorientation, and hypersexuality. There are numerous perioperative considerations in dealing with KLS that include challenges during induction of anesthesia, delayed emergence, postoperative sleep disorders, and delirium. However, due to its rare occurrence, the anesthetic considerations of KLS remain poorly described.

Implant-retained overdenture has proven to be a valid therapeutic solution in the mandible. This type of rehabilitation requires replacement of the matrices when those reach inadequate retention due to wearing processes.

All these studies included a partial sample of the population with a substantial selection bias. The present study evaluates the trend of mortality among physicians and dentists operating in an area considered to be at high risk during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This study evaluated the position of the Li, to investigate the anatomical relationship between the Li and some anatomical measurements using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT).
Methods: 201 hemimandibular CBCTs of 111 patients (43 males and 68 females; 18 to 88 years old) were retrospectively evaluated.
In pre-hospital care, an accurate and quick diagnosis of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is imperative to promptly kick-off the STEMI network with a direct transfer to the cardiac catheterization laboratory (cath lab) in order to reduce myocardial infarction size and mortality. Aa atherosclerotic plaque rupture is the main mechanism responsible for STEMI. However, in a small percentage of patients, emergency coronarography does not reveal any significant coronary stenosis.

Saddle block anesthesia (SBA) can provide dense sacral anesthesia with minimal motor blockade, but the ideal local anesthetic agent remains undefined. This systematic review aims to identify the optimal SBA regimen for ambulatory anorectal surgery.

These long columnar grains can cause property anisotropy, which is usually detrimental to component qualification or targeted applications. Here, without changing alloy chemistry, we demonstrate an AM solidification-control solution to printing metallic alloys with an equiaxed grain structure and improved mechanical properties.

This method allows for harvesting of a graft that is to be seeded on a PLGA scaffold and involves collection of a very little amount of palatal periosteal tissue in the same surgical site after elevation of a flap and disaggregation of it by using a Rigenera® filter. Histological samples collected at the time of implant installation demonstrate a good degree of bone regeneration.

The cycles of chemo- and radiotherapy used to treat AML can impair dental development.
Case Report: Herein, we describe the oral condition of a 25-year-old male patient treated for AML with chemo- and radiotherapy from 5 to 7 years of age; his AML has remained in remission for the past 18 years.
Electrocorticography (ECoG) is an electrophysiological technique that records brain activity directly from the cortical surface with high temporal (ms) and spatial (mm) resolution. Its major limitations are in the high invasiveness and in the restricted field-of-view of the electrode grid, which partially covers the cortex. To infer brain activity at locations different from just below the electrodes, it is necessary to solve the electromagnetic inverse problem.

Background: Electrocorticography (ECoG) measures the distribution of the electrical potentials on the cortex produced by the neural currents. A full interpretation of ECoG data requires solving the ill-posed inverse problem of reconstructing the spatio-temporal distribution of the neural currents. This study addresses the ECoG source modeling developing a beamformer method.

The ECG recorded from a patient with DDD pacemaker showed variable responses of the pacing system to bigeminal ventricular extrasystoles, dependent on the coupling interval of premature beats. For relatively short coupling intervals, the premature spontaneous event was detected by the pacemaker, inhibiting both atrial and ventricular output, and resulting in a relatively long pacing pause. In slightly less premature end-diastolic extrasystoles, in contrast, the pacing system delivered an atrial spike that was superimposed upon the spontaneous premature QRS complex (pseudo-pseudofusion); under these circumstances, the atrial spike was followed, at the end of the programmed atrioventricular interval, by a ventricular spike falling on the extrasystolic T wave apex (competitive ventricular pacing).

Methods: To investigate any possible role of prolactin in the growth of those tumours we detected the presence of prolactin-receptors (PRL-R) in 22 meningiomas and we correlated these data with PRL serum levels in patients before surgery. We also studied 13 patients with schwannomas and 7 with other cerebral tumours (4 glioblastomas, 2 ependymomas and 1 astrocytoma).
The most difficult aneurysms to be surgically treated are those of the vertebro-basilar junction area. This is due to their deep location and the proximity of brain stem and cranial nerves. Recently, new transbasal surgical approaches have been developed in order to realize a shorter and more direct access.

The authors report 19 consecutive children with cerebral arteriovenous malformations over the period 1978-1992. These patients are compared with a series of 120 consecutive adult patients with the same pathology, managed during the same period. The main clinical and angiographic features, as well as the treatment modalities and outcome are reviewed and compared.

However, at present, new endovascular techniques and new transbasal surgical approaches offer valuable management strategies. This paper concerns six consecutive patients whom we managed either endovascularly or surgically during a period of eighteen months.

Ventricular shunting in such cases permits a sudden increase in CBF. The pathophysiology of functional brain deficit secondary to hydrocephalus is little understood.
