Refractory cardiac arrest caused by type I Kounis syndrome treated with adrenaline and nicorandil: A case report.

Rationale: Kounis syndrome is a rare but life-threatening anaphylactic reaction that can lead to acute coronary syndrome and cardiac arrest, and requires prompt diagnosis. Adrenaline, which is used to treat anaphylaxis, may cause coronary vasoconstriction and worsen ischemia, whereas coronary vasodilators may dilate systemic vessels and exacerbate hypotension. Delayed diagnosis of Kounis syndrome and inadequate therapeutic intervention may thus lead to a poor outcome.

Pharmacokinetic Approach for the Elucidation of Elevated Plasma Small Extracellular Vesicle (sEV) Concentration in Cancer.

The abundance of circulating plasma small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) has been reported to be elevated in cancer; however, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. In this study, a pharmacokinetic approach was used to determine the factors contributing to elevated plasma sEV levels during cancer in a tumor-bearing mouse model. Mouse plasma-derived sEVs (MP-sEVs) isolated from tumor-bearing mice showed increased protein concentrations and physicochemical characteristics comparable to MP-sEVs isolated from healthy mice.

Here, we describe the anatomical and functional correspondence between attention, working memory, and executive control by providing an overview of cognitive models, as well as recent data from lesion studies, invasive and non-invasive multimodal neuroimaging and brain stimulation.

Successful Application of Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Ventricular Tachycardia Substrate in a Patient With Nonischemic Cardiomyopathy.

Cardiac stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) has been gaining attention as a potential treatment for patients with ventricular tachycardia (VT). Here, we describe a nonischemic patient with severe heart failure and VTs originating from the deep anteroseptal substrate that was refractory to standard and bipolar catheter ablations, and was successfully managed with SBRT. In conclusion, anteroseptal VTs resistant to catheter ablation in severe nonischemic heart failure might be an indication for cardiac SBRT as palliative therapy.

Right-side spatial neglect and white matter disconnection after left-hemisphere strokes.

Spatial neglect usually concerns left-sided events after right-hemisphere damage. Its anatomical correlates are debated, with evidence suggesting an important role for fronto-parietal white matter disconnections in the right hemisphere. Here, we describe the less frequent occurrence of neglect for right-sided events, observed in three right-handed patients after a focal stroke in the left hemisphere.
