Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is a worldwide public health problem associated with significant morbidity and mortality. In the context of liver transplantation, the demand for organs continues to exceed the supply, prompting the consideration of using organs from HCV-positive donors in HCV-negative recipients. The introduction of direct-acting antivirals (DAAs), which have demonstrated great efficacy in eradicating the virus, has made transplantation of organs from donors with HCV infection possible.

Patients And Methods: We included consecutive patients with a previously confirmed diagnosis of UC in remission for at least 12 months and who answered complete questionnaires: IBDQ-32, HAD. Clinical and sociodemographic characteristics were obtained.
Alcohol liver disease is one of the main indications for liver transplantation (LT). Currently, an abstinence period <6 months is required to include a patient with alcohol liver disease on the waiting list, a period that has not been shown to reduce the risk of relapse. Alcoholic hepatitis is characterized by hepatic decompensation secondary to recent, excessive consumption of alcohol, and LT may be the option in a well-selected group of patients who do not respond to medical treatment, but due to established sobriety intervals are excluded, this requires a change in the criteria established by the committees.

Methods: Participants were included from February to September 2021.
Background: Despite the high number of vaccines administered against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) worldwide, the information on the psychological/psychiatric adverse events following immunization (AEFI) with these newly developed vaccines remains scarce.
Objective: To describe the frequency of psychological/psychiatric symptoms among recipients of five different anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccines and to explore the factors associated with their development reported in the nationwide Mexican registry of AEFI against SARS-CoV-2.
Methods: Descriptive study of all the psychological/psychiatric symptoms, including anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, and agitation reported to the Mexican Epidemiological Surveillance System from 21 December 2020 to 27 April 2021, among adult (≥18 years old) recipients of 7,812,845 doses of BNT162b2, ChAdOx1 nCov-19, rAd26-rAd5, Ad5-nCoV, or CoronaVac.

Objective: To describe potential associations between clinical expression and electrodiagnostic patterns in POEMS syndrome.
Method: Observational, retrospective, cross-sectional study of cases cared for in a referral center, diagnosed with POEMS syndrome from 2009 to 2019.

Background: Cirrhosis is a public health threat associated with high mortality. Alcoholic Liver Disease (ALD) is the leading cause in Latin America and Metabolic Associated Fatty Liver Disease (MAFLD) in western countries. In Mexico, ALD and chronic Hepatitis C Virus infection (HCV) were the most frequent aetiologies during the past decades.

The survival of transplanted patients has increased exponentially, which has led to more knowledge of the long-term complications secondary to the underlying pathology or the various treatments that must be followed. Bone metabolic disease is a chronic complication of liver transplantation that inhibits quality of life.

Delirium is a well-known neuropsychiatric complication of patients with acute respiratory diseases, representing the most frequent clinical expression of acute brain dysfunction in critically ill patients, especially in those undergoing invasive mechanical ventilation. Among hospitalized patients with COVID-19, delirium incidence ranges from 11% to 80%, depending on the studied population and hospital setting.

Persistent (>48 hours) hiccups (ie, singultus or hiccoughs) have been recently described as a rare presentation of COVID-19. Even when considered benign, the frequency and duration of hiccup spells can be burdensome and sometimes difficult to treat.

Patients with HCV viremia at the time of LT universally develop recurrent HCV in the allograft, leading to accelerated fibrosis and graft loss. Treatment with direct-acting antivirals (DAA) is highly effective and safe in this population.

Liver transplantation is a lifesaving treatment that improves survival and quality of life. The procedure requires adequate transplant candidate selection carried out by a multidisciplinary team. Psychosocial evaluation is a necessary part of recipient selection and its primary aims are to identify problems and psychosocial needs of the patient and his/her family, to improve transplantation outcomes.

Risk factors associated with death vary among countries with different ethnic backgrounds. We aimed to describe the factors associated with death in Mexicans with confirmed COVID-19.

We aimed to study the predictive value of the medical history and clinical features recognized by the patients' bystanders to preclassify acute stroke syndromes in prehospital settings.
Methods: We analyzed 369 patients: 209 (56.
Introduction: Different studies have described psychiatric comorbidities in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients, but most of them focus mainly on depression and anxiety. Even though major mental disorders are considered one of the main factors that decrease quality of life (QoL), its role in IBD patients remains unclear. We sought to identify the prevalence of different mental disorders as well as its relationship with QoL.

We studied PAD prevalence, risk factors, and six-month outcomes in stable outpatients with a history of a recent acute coronary syndrome (ACS), or at high coronary risk.

Introduction: Atherosclerotic carotid artery disease (CAD) is a major risk factor for cerebrovascular disease.
Objective: To analyze the association of major vascular risk factors with atherosclerotic CAD and white matter disease (WMD) in patients without a history of ischemic stroke.
Method: Risk factors were assessed with carotid examination using Doppler duplex ultrasound.

We undertook this study to investigate the distribution of IL28B SNP rs12979860 in Mexican patients with HCV infection and to assess its usefulness in predicting response to pegylated interferon-alpha and ribavirin (PegIFN-α/RVB) therapy.
Methods: Three hundred and fifty patients with chronic HCV infection were studied.
