This study investigated how contraction frequency impacts the mechano-energetics of cardiac muscle performing mechanical work. Left-ventricular trabeculae were isolated from rat hearts and mounted in our work-loop calorimeter to assess their function at physiological temperature (37°C) across three stimulation frequencies, 2 Hz, 3.5 Hz and 5 Hz, in a randomised sequence.

This review focuses on the aspects of the mechanisms underlying the link between AD and insufficient sleep with progressing age. We also provide information which could serve as evidence for future treatments of AD from the early stages in connection with sleep disorder medication.

This phase 1 clinical trial (NCT02933944) assessed the safety and immunological efficacy of TG02 adjuvanted by GM-CSF in patients with -mutant colorectal cancer.
Methods: In the interval between completing CRT and pelvic exenteration, patients with resectable mutation-positive, locally advanced primary or current colorectal cancer, received 5-6 doses of TG02/GM-CSF.
Cardiac sex-difference functional studies have centred on measurements of twitch force and Ca dynamics. The energy expenditures from these two cellular processes: activation (Ca handling) and contraction (cross-bridge cycling), have not been assessed, and compared, between sexes. Whole-heart studies measuring oxygen consumption do not directly measure the energy expenditure of these activation-contraction processes.

Summary Answer: Based on this secondary analysis of a large randomized clinical trial (RCT), sperm morphology has limited value as a biomarker to identify couples who benefit more from ICSI over c-IVF on live birth, ongoing pregnancy, clinical pregnancy or total fertilization failure.
What Is Known Already: Our recent RCT showed that ICSI did not result in higher live birth rates in couples with normal total sperm count and motility. It is unclear whether sperm morphology can be used as a biomarker to identify couples who benefit more from ICSI over c-IVF in this population.
Objective: To compare oocyte maturation rates and pregnancy outcomes in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) undergoing biphasic in vitro maturation (capacitation in vitro maturation [CAPA-IVM]) with vs. without follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) priming.
Design: Randomized, controlled, assessor-blinded trial.
Purpose: Although some immune protection from close contact with individuals who have coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been documented, there is limited data on the seroprevalence of antibodies against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in individuals who were in lockdown with confirmed COVID-19 cases. This study investigated immunogenicity against SARS-CoV-2 in household members and people who lived near home-quarantined patients with COVID-19.
Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted during the community-based care that took place during lockdowns in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from July to September 2021.
A facile approach was employed to fabricate MIL-100(Fe) materials from FeO nanoparticles through a conventional hydrothermal reaction without the presence of HF and HNO. Effects of trimesic acid content in the reaction system on the quality and CO/N separation performance of the as-prepared MIL-100(Fe) samples were investigated. Using 1.

Design: This prospective study was conducted at My Duc Hospital, Vietnam. Infertile women aged 18 years or older, who were scheduled for laparoscopy, were included. Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score for perception of pain during HyFoSy was used.
Purpose: This study investigated the differences in the maturation rate of single versus grouped cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) culture methods for capacitation in vitro maturation (CAPA-IVM) in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Methods: This study was performed at My Duc Phu Nhuan Hospital, Vietnam from October 1, 2020 to October 24, 2021. Women aged 18-37 years with a diagnosis of PCOS were recruited.
Study Question: In non-male factor infertile couples, are there any differences in the developmental outcomes between children born through ICSI and conventional IVF (cIVF)?
Summary Answer: In this preliminary study, ICSI and cIVF seem to have a comparable effect on developmental outcomes after 12 months in children born to non-male factor infertile couples.
What Is Known Already: ICSI, an invasive technique, has raised concerns about potential developmental abnormalities in children. Limited data are available regarding the developmental outcomes of ICSI-conceived infants born to non-male factor infertile couples.

The adsorption mechanism of S-Metolachlor in an aqueous solution by sawdust biochar derived from (SAB) was studied. SAB was manufactured at 500 °C for 4 h under oxygen-limited conditions and characterized for SEM, EDS, pHpzc, BET, and FTIR. The adsorption kinetics, isotherm, and diffusion studies of S-Metolachlor and SAB were further explored.

Methods: We performed a retrospective cross-sectional study among 125 patients with COVID-19 in a centralized isolation facility in the community of Ho Chi Minh City from September to November 2021. We collected data on depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms, as indicated by scores on the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21, as well as sociodemographic characteristics.
Purpose: Our goal was to evaluate the neutrophil:lymphocyte (NLR) and platelet:lymphocyte (PLR) ratios measured before transplantation and their correlation with new-onset diabetes after transplantation (NODAT) in renal transplant recipients.
Patients And Methods: We conducted our study in 324 adult patients consecutively admitted to Military Hospital 103, Ha Noi, Viet Nam, who received kidney allografts from living donors. These patients were followed-up during the first 2 years post-transplantation for NODAT.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with twin pregnancy following day 3 double embryo transfer (DET).
Methods: This retrospective cohort study incorporated data from 16,972 day 3 DET cycles. The participants were women aged between 18 and 45 years who underwent in vitro fertilization with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI) at My Duc Assisted Reproduction Technique Unit (IVFMD), My Duc Hospital, located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Minimally invasive colorectal surgery is currently well-accepted, with open techniques being reserved for very difficult cases. Laparoscopic colectomy has been proven to have lower mortality, complication, and ostomy rates; a shorter median length of stay; and lower overall costs when compared to its open counterpart. This trend is seen in both benign and malignant indications.

Cardiac trabeculae are small samples of heart muscle tissue that can be dissected and studied in vitro to better understand the underlying physiology of cardiac muscle. However, instruments for such experimentation often (1) involve delicate mounting of the muscle, (2) constrain investigations to one muscle at a time and, thus, (3) cannot retain the muscle in the same experimental configuration for post-experimental assessment including imaging analysis. Here, we present a novel device that allows trabeculae to be secured by a visible-light photo-initiated hydrogel, manipulated via a force sensor, and stimulated while being imaged.
