The optical properties of carbon nanoscrolls in the presence of uniform electric fields are investigated by using gradient approximation. Absorption spectra exhibit rich prominent peaks structures, which is caused by one-dimensional sub-bands. The numbers, spectral intensities, and energies of the absorption peaks are strongly dependent on the geometry and the electric field strength.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "To Sing Li"

  • - To Sing Li's recent research focuses on the optical properties of carbon nanoscrolls, examining how they behave under uniform electric fields.
  • - His study reveals that the absorption spectra of these nanostructures feature prominent peaks resulting from one-dimensional sub-bands, highlighting the complexity of their optical characteristics.
  • - Findings indicate that the geometry of the carbon nanoscrolls and the strength of the applied electric fields significantly influence the number, intensity, and energy of the optical absorption peaks.
